Party food ideas

Hi Ladies! I offered to host a small family dinner for my mom's 60th birthday the day after I'm in a wedding . The 6 of us had now expanded to 12 people at our new house (which still has boxes everywhere upstairs, eek!). I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with what to serve for food. I need to keep it somewhat simple enough to get done in one day but I still want it to feel special. What would you serve? Have any popular party recipes?

 Thanks!

Re: Party food ideas

  • i think pasta is one of the easiest things to make in bulk. you can "fancy it up" by having one or two types of noodles, and then a "sauce bar" with different sauces to try.

sides are easy, too- garlic bread, and salad.

and to make the meal complete, and themed, maybe have italian sodas for drinks (club soda, syrup, cream), and an italian dessert like tiramisu or something.

    this.

add some italian wines and you're done!

  • Thanks for the ideas!

  • I was going to suggest lasagna made ahead and baked day of, but it appears everyone is on the Italian idea.
