"The Art of Making a Baby"... and a q

Do you read this blog?  If so, you should.  Woman is a bit crazy (to the point that during her pregnancy she is not coming in contact with her friends for fear of something harming the child, etc etc) but it makes her blog entertaining.  SOme of the national boards are obsessed with her blog because she is so unusual and they can't figure out her story (mail order bride? etc).

BUt her post today struck a nerve.  I sit with my computer on my bump all the time... is there any real risk of doing that?  She uses some blanket that blocks like, radiation transmission or something, on her lap.

Now she's got me paranoid!

Here's the blog if you want it:

Re: "The Art of Making a Baby"... and a q

  • She drives me up the wall! I can't read her blog because she makes my skin crawl. Is that bad? HA!

Now I'm curious about today's post, though. :-)

  • I read it and I feel like she could make anyone paranoid. Doesn't she only leave the house for doctor's appointments due to all the harmful things in the world? Who does that?!

  • SHE IS CRAZY! I can't help but read the blog, but it kills me every time since I know those turds are making money off of it.

  • I am fascinated by her.  She really thinks she's the hottest thing since sliced bread.  Her husband comes across as... really weird?  Something.

She is CONSUMED with this baby stuff, to the point of unhealthy obsession.  I wonder how she will be as a parent.  Will she never let anyone hold the child?

Don't even get me started on her theories on what makes people gay.  That is apparently half the reason she won't go out in public.

Her husband comes across like he likes dudes. I can't figure them out together.

To your first quoted paragraph: I'm guessing not a great parent.  Sure, babies need lots of attention.  But if you teach a child that the world revolves around them that can't go anywhere good.

To the second: WTF?!?!  She's afraid gay is contagious or something?  Whats wrong with her baby ending up being gay anyway?  If its a germ thing I don't think that's much better - I know pregnant women need to be careful but if she never goes out in public how could she possibly pass any type of immune system to the baby?  Whatever.  I refuse to give people like this any more attention.

  • I've never read her blog before but my first thought was, "Wow, she has a lot of sports bra/ yoga pant combos."  My second thought was that it must be insanely exhausting to be her, or be around her.  I think having someone like that as a friend would be an exercise in maintaining sanity.

this is going to sound really bad, but I often notice that it's people like her who end up with kids that have something wrong with them, even though the mom did everything "perfect."

As for the computer thing, I have my laptop on me a lot, and especially during the first and second tri with Natalie because I was off for the summer and didn't have a toddler to chase.  I assure you, she's perfectly normal.

  • I've never heard of her and never read it but just from this thread I can tell you that I CAN'T WAIT for her baby to get her and for her to realize that you can't plan, research or "protect" yourself out of raising a child.    Meaning - your kid can't live in a bubble, kwim?  It's all well and good that she's trying to "protect" them from bad things now.....but I'd laugh in her face the first time that baby pics up dried old food off the floor and eats it.  Beacause?  It WILL happen and the baby WILL be fine.

She sounds like a really annoying person with far far too much time on her hands and makes me think of this YouTube video Pregnant Women are Smug (which is hilarious).

She claims that she wouldn't care, but "why put the child at risk for something that would only make their life more difficult" basically.  Like, I'll love the kid if she's gay but I don't want to potentially make her gay because her life will be harder.

Seriously.  I read her in Google Reader so I can ignore all her ads and advertisers because she is so off her rocker...

She talks often about never wearing more than that around the house.  Like, ever.  Her interest in clothing is also very strange.  She was anti-maternity clothes, except for super high end items, so she posts about those.

Yeah, she has done a few posts about her friends and GTG with them... and they are also all russian transplants, which is weird.

After reading further... wow.  This chick is so self-important and vain.  Who is taking all these pictures of her?  Is she doing it herself?  I want to smack the stupid "look how hot I am" smirk off her face in almost every shot.  She seems like a wanna-be model-slash-celeb.  I have a feeling that she's going to belong on STFU parents when her kid comes.

    Yup, she takes them herself.

THe videos are even worse.  She plans them out first (multiple shots, angles, etc) then sets up the camera on a tripod and films "scenes" then edits them together.

    Seriously.

Oh god, this.  I agree w/ Star having just read some of her site for the first time.  Does she have a job?  Girlfriend has waaaaaay too much time on her hands.  I say again I can't wait until the baby comes and she's playing Director and telling the baby "just spit-up once more for the camera".  lame.

  • Yep, she's a loon!  Some of her nutty stuff I picked up on:

-She only wanted a girl (which she's having).  She even said in a post that she was thankful her baby would have the "right set of genitals."

-She's all about expensive stuff, but I doubt she pays any attention to the real value of an item.  His dad (or someone's dad) bought their crib for them, and she wrote in the post something along the lines of, "Well, it's not an expensive crib like the $1,000 I wanted to get, but it will do."  Way to be generous.

-They made their smallest of 5 bedrooms into the nursery, despite the fact that the only place to put the crib is under a big window, because it was "the only" room they could use.  Some of the rooms that they just couldn't part with changing/moving into the smaller room?  The movie room, the office, and the guest bedroom.

-If she ever had to shop at Old Navy, it would be "tragic."

-Gayness is caused by stress, don't ya' know.  She also made some post alluding to the fact that you can control having a miscarriage or not by doing/eating the right things.  After she was called out about it, she added some bogus disclaimer to her post, but still kept with the original content about how most people don't understand the lengths they need to go to to keep their pregnancies safe.

-She has another blog where she stages and takes photos of herself.

The crazy is strong with that one, for sure, but I can't help myself from checking out her blog now & then.  It's entertaining for sure!

  • Never read.

Agree with everyone else now that I've scanned a bit - LOON!

BUT I will say that I loved her gender reveal idea, so much cuter IMHO than the baker/cake bit (http://prebabyblog.com/2011/09/gender-reveal/) HOWEVER, should she breathing in those fumes? LOL

I LUFF you. I was about to say this and text Cass and say.. THE HUSBAND COMES ACROSS GAY!

  • Yeah, she's looney toons.  You get about as much radiation from a computer as turning on a light bulb.  Even the radiation from my H's x-ray in his office is not more than sitting outside all day with no sunscreen. What is she going to do when the kid goes to school and must use a computer?  Oh the horror!!
