What do you have on the books for travel in 2012?
Re: 2012 Travel
I just wrote down the dates I need off between Feb and July and it's 20. whoops. Hmm I need to find that job with flexibility, pronto.
Alaska for a weekend in Feb. for a friends wedding.
Vegas for a weekend at the end of Feb.
Lithuania/Latvia/Russia for two weeks in April/May
Alaska for Memorial Day weekend to celebrate my 30th birthday
Portland for 4th of July for the Blues Festival.
My tentative plan:
7-10 days in Europe (or maybe a few days longer to squeeze in a drive around iceland)
2 weeks in New Zealand
2-3 long weekends domestically
not much!!! the second and third thing h said when we found out we were ktfu was pertaining to lack of future travel....
hawaii (oahu) shortly before maternity leave is over
california (probably bay area) for thanksgiving
indonesia for christmas

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
I was going to say "not much" but when I think about it, I actually might be traveling a lot (granted, 2 out of the 3 would be free for me :P).
- conference in CA in January (same as last year)
- *hopefully* conference in Germany in June
- we've discussed going to Korea during H's break in the spring (his mom is Korean), but this depends mainly on whether his parents will be able to go
Planning Bio
Married Bio
Florida to visit a good friend who moved there, and to go to some spring training games.
Japan for my first trip there, W's first since working there teaching ESL, and to visit her sister.
Possible going snowboarding with East Coast friends somewhere like Park City or Jackson Hole, but not sure if we'll have the money or vacation time for that.
1st year anniversary in Victoria with a killer whale topiary!
Summer camping trip to Idaho (not as bad as it sounds)
Oct 2012 Maui with DH's family and us. ( everyone has seperate rooms)
Oct 2011 3 1/2 years old.
Robert Williams Birth date 5/16/2008
We don't have a ton confirmed, but right now it's looking like:
-Dominican Republic for a week in January for a friend's birthday (confirmed)
-Seattle in February for the UW / Arizona game (I will probably come up for one weekend in Jan. as well)
-LA in March for the UW / UCLA game since I've never been to Pauley
-New Orleans in March with BIL / SIL
-Hawaii in late March / early April for sister's triathalon
-Charleston / Philadelphia in early May for a getaway (Charleston) and wedding (Philly)
-Seattle in August (wedding)
-Seattle in September (wedding)
-Paris and one other country (TBD) in September since I am taking my BFF as a surprise for her birthday
H and I will likely add on 5-6 trips to Seattle (we take one about every 5-6 weeks), a few trips to the East Coast to see his family, and then a few international trips. We may also try to sneak to Jackson Hole and Banff this summer, depending on what we do. For international, we're either going to do one big, six-week trek across Spain, France, Italy, and Croatia, or we're going to do three smaller trips: the Galapagos, Spain/Portugal, and then Bali. Choice is up to H.
I spend every extra penny I have on travel. Figure I might as well do it while we're young with no kids / no major expenses (mortgage, car payment, student loans, etc.).
my currently-reading shelf:
we will be ringing in 2012 in Oahu
At the end of January I have to go to Toronto for work, so I'm taking a few extra days in Toronto and then will drive down to Detroit and work from my parents house in Michigan for a few days.
We were supposed to go to Italy in July w/ my folks and brother but my brother couldn't make it work with his schedule so maybe in 2013.
That's it at this point. My work schedule really limits the times when I can take vacation so we'll probably do something in summer/early fall and again in December.
We don't have a lot planned. We'll probably go to Ohio to visit my family at some point, and we'll probably go to Colorado around the 4th of July.
Our only big trip is Jamaica next Christmas. It'll be our fifth wedding anniversary, and while we were on our honeymoon, we agreed that we'd like to go back to Jamaica for the 5th anniversary.

This conversation prompted me to talk to H last night about our 2012 vacation plans.
Cross your fingers that we'll be going to London and Marrakesh in February.
For 2012:
Late August: Going to Ashland, OR for H's Dad's side Family Reunion.
Christmas: Going to the coast of GA for Christmas with the ILs.
I REALLY want to go to a UW Basketball game if they make it into the NCAA tourney, and/or a UW Husky Bowl game since I can't go this year. So that would mean traveling in March and/or December.
I wish we could travel more, but my work schedule and DH's really doesn't match up well enough to plan anything too long. I work in the IT industry and he works for the state.
