The inlaws are in next week and we always try and go out for a nice dinner when they are here...
So far, they have really liked French Cafe and Spencers. Any suggestions for places around the midtown/downtown area? I'm not really in a steak mood lately, so something other than that would be great.
Places not up their alley: Zin Room, Grey Plume, and they do not like Indian or Thai food.
Re: Restaurant Suggestions??
Crave? Midtown Crossing? we just went there tonight and it was busy, but they accommodated our little group without a prior rezo. 610 is re-opening as something else in a few days...not sure what it's called. "I" like the Cantina Laredo but DH is not too keen on that, usually.
Other midtown options: Marks or Pitch or Jams. We like all three.
We went to Zin a couple months ago. Meh. Scary decor, bad seating, mediocre service. The food was great but the other factors outweighed that, unfortunately.
GL. Let us know what you end up doing and what you think of the place!
Thanks! We go to Pitch a good amount-we live pretty close to it, and I have to say, our Marks experience was not too hot this fall, so we won't go back.
I forgot about Crave..DH went there a few months ago for a work meeting, I'll have to run it by him!
I agree with the Zin review...I went with a friend, the food was okay when we went, but the whole place was just off.
Ditto Jams.
I don't think we had good service at Marks either (is that the French place in Dundee?). Our waiter was a snob, literally! The food was good though.
I think maybe the French place was Darios Brasserie? Which is about 2 doors down from Marks, same side of street.
I forgot about Nicolas or Ms downtown. Delicious.
And yes, portovino must be the place that replaced 610 at Midtown. I didn't realize it had opened or we would've tried that last night!
Jackson Street Tavern is one of my favorites. Their brushcetta (sp?!) and shrimp cocktail are AH-MAZING!!
Probably not on the fancy enough side but we really enjoyed Blanc Burger. And for future reference on Tuesday night they do a date night with a bottle of wine, two burgers and one side for 35 dollars. My husband and I ate there on a Sunday had a glass of wine, one beer, two burgers and a side and our bill was over fifty dollars so that Tuesday deal would be well worth it!!
