Forgive me if this is insensitive, I'm just trying to understand. And I googled and got some info that didn't really make sense to me.
So, my understanding is that a CP is a pregnancy where the mom miscarries before her period comes. The example given on the web stated that with a CP, you wouldn't even know about it if you hadn't tested early. It said that they're typically discovered by people who POAS before they're due for their period.
The website got me wondering...why would you even test until your period was late? For me, I think it would be much less painful to never know the pregnancy happened if it was a CP. I figure the website is oversimplifying...so please explain.
Re: Question about Chemical Pregnancies.
I thought it was a M/C that occurred before a heartbeat could be detected.
HB's aren't typically heard until right at 6w. So you could be a couple days late and still have a CP.

The definition my RE used was a pregnancy that ended before anything was visible on ultrasound (so a gestational sac would be visible around 5.5 weeks.) You had a positive test but didn't make it much further than a week or two after that.
I ALWAYS tested before AF was due because I'm impatient and for 30+ months or whatever was just SURE that this month was the month (hahahahaaa!)
There were some medical reasons for that as well. Even with CPs, they gave me a Rhogam shot because of my blood type (RH-). Also, my normal cycle ended 10 days after O, but you can't confirm a BFN until 14-16 DPO. I was on progesterone and AF would have stayed away until I stopped taking it (for me, anyway.)
My AF was about a week late before I started bleeding with my first CP, btw.
I've had two and my understanding is that it's considered a chemical anytime up to 6 weeks (which could be up to 2 weeks after your expected period if you have a 28-day cycle).
As far as testing early, some people don't have regular cycles or 14-day luteal phases (the time between ovulation and period) - myself included. So I have to chart to know when to test.

Yeah, waiting until your period is due is waaaay easier said than done when you have a package of 100 tests sitting next to your toilet, lol.
I always started testing super early, like 7dpo and ended up getting my bfp super early, like 9dpo
I know others have already posted, but it's a miscarriage before you can see it on an ultrasound. With my CP, I didn't get my period until a week later than expected. I had 7 days of thinking I was going to have a baby. I wrapped my head around a due date. I made plans in my head for a nursery. I calculated my approximate sick time and vacation days at that due date. And then it all fell apart. And you are left wondering what the heck is wrong with your body and why it failed you when so many others get pregnant and stay that way.
Testing before your period validates symptoms you might be feeling (fullness of breasts, feverish, nausea, veins more blue, weird breakouts, peeing constantly) and sometimes it snaps you out of your bad behaviors. (Drink until pink!) And who doesn't want to know as soon as they can? It's kind of big news!
But don't feel bad about wondering about it. To be quite honest, I had NO idea why it was such a big deal until I experienced it.

Ditto what everyone else said; when you've been trying for what feels like forever you want to know as soon as possible if it FINALLY worked.
Also, in my case, I've been diagnosed with low progesterone so I wanted to know if I was pregnant asap so that I could make sure my progesterone was ok and start on supplements if it was low.
