So I am super annoyed with H. He is so loud in the mornings! The worst is when he's getting dressed for PT in his windbreaker gear/rustle maker. That swooshing is the worst! And it's usually like 530. Today was another (shorter) ruck march, so he was up at 430. For the love of sweet baby Jesus, I have no idea how a person can rustle ABU pants so much for fifteen minutes. I finally asked him wtf he was doing and asked him to do it elsewhere (which he did). Oh, but he leaves the stupid bright bathroom light on! Arg. I was awake with no shot of more sleep. Grumble grumble husband grumble.
He knows I have trouble sleeping in the first place. He knows once I wake up, I typically cannot fall back asleep. He knows I get shanky when woken up. Why he is all "la dee da, what could I possibly be doing wrong?" is beyond me.
Maybe it's just me, but when I have to get up earlier than him I go out of my way to be quiet and considerate. I know it sucks to have to get up when your partner is still sleeping, especially early, but come on!!! There is no need for me to be up at 445 or earlier just because you're inconsiderate. It's like The Mexican Hat Dance song is playing in his head, obliterating all other thoughts. There are days he manages not to do this, so I know it's possible.
At least he stopped doing what he was doing when we first lived together, which was when he would sit on the bed to put on his shoes or whatever he would sit on my feet! I started kicking him. He stopped. Then he would drape his uniform on me. I kicked that off and he stopped.
Well that turned to quite the long early morning rant, lol.
Re: Ug. So annoyed, am I being crazy?
Oh and FTR, H is normally a perfectly nice, Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way) kind of guy. He goes out of his way to not offend spiders. His mom is usually in awe when I have legitimate things to complain about him. Which makes it worse to me that he does this!
Eta: and while I have talked to him before about it, I did send him a text asking if we could work on problem solving ways to be quieter in the wee hours of the morning.

You're not being crazy. I'd be pissed too and I don't have issues sleeping.
I almost spit out my breakfast when I read "Mexican Hat Dance song playing in his head". This is a very good description of T when he does stupid sh*t like this. He just doesn't think about things some times and then I have to remind him.
I made that up about my friend's husband, but it is so accurate about H sometimes. Its the only explanation for what must be going on up there!

Ugh, Jilly, I would be so mad. I hope you can work something out. Being woke up earlier than you should is the absolute worst.
I am in awe that you can talk to his mom about that, though. My MIL would throw a fit at me if I ever complained to her about D, it would turn around to how ungrateful I am for the leadership and stability his job provides.
Tell her you want to shove stability up his ass when he wakes you up at 4:30 a.m.!
His mom and I have a ... unique... lol relationship. we're drinking buddies. We're very much two birds of a color. She luurrrves me. He's just always been the golden child, I think its refreshing to hear that he has flaws. lol.

We use little night lights, like these:

We have these in the hallway so he doesn't have to turn on the hall light. Fortunately, our bathroom now is on the other side of the house from our bedroom, but we used to have an en suite that didn't have a door except for by the toilet. The sink area was completely open to our bedroom. I hung a heavy curtain. I don't care how ghetto it looked, it served its purpose.
We empty pockets in the kitchen. That way in the morning, when he's getting dressed, I don't have to listen to keys, change, challenge coins, his velcro gloves, his pens and notebooks being stuffed into his pockets. Boots stay by the door too. We set out socks, underwear, and t-shirts at night, so there's no opening and closing dresser drawers.
I understand your H needs to shave in the morning, so night lights in the bathroom aren't an option, but can you install a dimmer bulb? Do you have more than one bathroom?
Our system is similar to Ojo's. DH lays all of his stuff out the night before, in the living room. So when he'd done showering and shaving he's done in the bedroom area. We also have an open en suite, and have hung a curtain to block the light.
When he's on nights, I do the same thing, I get dressed in the living room, or in the nursery with baby S.
We have a second bathroom, conveniently located on the other side of the apartment, and also where he keeps all his stuff for getting ready in the am. (that sink is better). I dont know why he leaves our bathroom light on. He's a silly silly man.
I think it would help to keep all shoe/boot related items outside the bedroom. And maybe I could convince him no windsuit/rustle maker in the bedroom either. Perhaps he can put that in the other room or whatnot. Thats the worst offender.

DH's parents, on the other hand. . . UGH. They go to bed before my toddler and, therefore are awake before the chickens. Our house is creaky, and my ILs walk heavily. Our guest suite is on the third floor and the bathroom is directly above LO's bedroom. They are up and down the stairs multiple times before six am. Put all of this together and it means that LO, who used to sleep until 8:00am was getting up at 6:00am because of all of their noise. He is still waking up early. They are clueless to the effect of their noise. (In fact, the first morning, MIL asked if LO was always so grumpy in the morning. She also commented that I seemed overwhelmed and we needed to get me on a better going to bed schedule. Realy???? I almost decked her.). DH joked that he is going make his parents sleep in the basement at Christmas. He will be talking to them about minimizing their movements in the morning.
Hahahahah...my H does the same thing. When my alarm goes off (on mornings where he hasn't left before me) I am pretty much a huge grump and I am never impressed that I am awake before the sun. DH thinks it's a fine time to poke me, kiss my face obnoxiously, go for a boob grab, a tickle. He is dead to me in those moments.
Sorry about your lack of sleep this morning Jilly, I feel your pain.
Also, brandie, love your pic in your sig lol..I'm such a nerd for anything psych-related
