Seriously! WTH??
I went to a rheumatologist for my muscle/joint issues back on the 15th. He took blood for blood tests and a bunch of Xrays, prescribed two meds that he thought would work better than my Alleve-- after acknowledging that they were safe to take while TTC and during at least the first 2/3 of pregnancy. And he told me to come back in 4-6 weeks.
They didn't work. At all. I could have been taking sugar pills, for all the good they did. Okay, no biggie. He was gone the week of Thanksgiving, so I talked to a nurse who talked to the other doctor in the practice, and they took me off one of the meds and said to double-up on the other one. Okay, I'll give that a go. One week later-- no go. The med wears off in 4-6 hours, when it works at all. Another phone call, then, to the doc.
My doctor's solution? Let's prescribe 2 more drugs for me-- and let's have one of them be "a narcotic-like opioid" (yeah, I'll go to work on that! NOT!) simply for pain and the 2nd is a drug THAT IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PREGNANCY OR WOMEN TTC. Seriously?!?!
Where are the results of the Xrays?!? Where are the results of the blood tests?? How is any of this better than my Alleve? You're so highly recommended by other doctors and nurses-- is this the best you can do? If you can't treat me, how about you just say "I don't think I have anything to contribute" and we part ways?
I don't think the voicemail I left for his staff today will actually convey exactly how much I want to kick this doctor in the shins. So. Frustrated.
