H&M and American Girl Store
I was working at JL today and the luncheon was commercial realtors. During the forum, they said H&M was negotiating leases at Willowbrook, Baybrook and the Woodlands. They also said they were building an American Girl store in the Woodlands.

Re: H&M and American Girl Store
i've never been inside an H&M. is it a mall type store, or something that would be in a strip center?

Ditto!

I really think they'll go with Woodlands on both.
I've gone to H&M but I don't see what the hype is. I wanted to love it though.
For DH is the underwear. He loves them. Put it this way, they do for men what a great bra does for women. They're quite high though considering how cheap the rest of the clothes are. But he was crushed when his went down with the boat that I recently bought him a few more when I came across a store in St Louis.
Have you seen some of the designer collections? They're fantastic. You can Google images from Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Lanvin. Much better than the Target designer collections.
ooh good call, i wonder if that is where they are negotiating, that would be good and bad (like market street needs to be any more crowded with no place to park but that poorly designed garage.)

This is a good description. The clothes are not awesome quality. But the prices are low and they are trendy, so they will probably last about as long as you'd want to wear them.
Here's the chron blog

Maybe they were at the same luncheon I was
There is also going to be a new Neiman's store next to Sports Authority on Post Oak. It will be the lower end stuff of NM, prices more like Last Call but with current designers. I am super excited about it!

I have also head it described as the "Ikea of Clothes". I find it to be totally hit or miss, but I have found some great pieces there. I am headed to NJ in 2 weeks, so hopefully I will have time to stop into one! TJ's too!
H&M has cute kid's clothes for cheap, so that is nice.
Baybrook sucks though.
OH. Awesome. Shopping GTG anyone??
Are you kidding me? It's one of the best malls in the Houston area.
Um, not when you live on the NW side of town.
I was thinking the same thing, odear. I just wish the location were more central.
I love H&M jeans and they're only $35. I also got a black trench coat with a pleated bottom (so it goes over poofy dresses, to give you a picture) for $40. Saw a similar coat at Nords for $100+. That's the hype.
This is all hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt. I was talking to one of my old retail friends earlier this week who is still working at Willowbrook Mall. Apparently the rumor is that H&M outbid LOFT on their lease and is going to go in there sometime next year.
I wouldn't think that space is big enough though unless it will be a "mini" H&M. Although, the space next to is vacant and has been for awhile so I guess they could take over both spaces.
i still wonder where in the heck something big is going at baybrook. there isn't any room anywhere! all the big stores are probably there to stay a while.
i wish something would outbid Loft. nothing in there is tall enough for me.
i really love baybrook! you guys should just plan to shop at baybrook and have lunch with good old me. i'm like 5 minutes from there... and i know the yummy lunch places in the area.

Oh, and I want to add, the last time I was at the H&M in Dallas, I had been in the MAdewell just before and saw a cute scarf with tassles on it. It was $45 so I walked away. Found a similar style at H&M for $6. ALso got the boys cotton vneck sweaters for $8.99. That's full price and they are definitely as high quality as Gap and better than Old Navy.
