WG has accepted the position in CA..as expected. She will be moving Dec 27 to start work on Jan 2.
I would love to get her a very nice xmas/going away/house warming type gift or gifts. Plus I suspect she has bought me a couple things too. I dont have a good history of being creative when buying stuff for women so I figured it was time to come to the source...lol. -Great bottle of wine
-a travel book for CA (Sacramento specifically. Think: Fodors, etc) or a Fun Things to do in CA
-yelp some places in Sacramento and get a GC for them, like a Mexican place, or a popular ice cream shop
You could put this all together in a basket with a thoughtful card . If you have her new address, you could send flowers when she arrives???

I was going to suggest something like this. When my BFF moved to Phoenix I found this cool book that had all kinds of hip hot spots to try out. Each time I've gone to visit her, we've picked a few places from that book to check out. Things that will help her get out and do some fun stuff in her new city are cool, I think.

Wine of the month club. Each month she'll think of you, the awesome sex you had, and is bound to bone you when she comes back to visit!
I like this idea a lot. She will think of you when she uses the items in Sacremento. Though.. instead of a basket, maybe use of of those eco reusable shopping bag that she can use over and over again.
I agree with some of the other ladies. Put together a little package of "stuff for your new home" - she'll think it's really sweet. Some ideas: Maybe a bottle of local wine, a Frommers or Fodors on Sacramento or northern CA, a Thomas Guide book of maps (because CA is a PITA to drive in), do a little research and find a good mex place there and get her a gift card.
