What to do about doors that stick?
We live in an older home which has had multiple coats of paint over the years. The paint on all of the bedroom doors sticks a little bit when you open them. Normally, this wouldn't be an issue, but with two little ones, it can wake them up when I go in to check on them. I went on Pinterest to see if there were any solutions to this problem but all that came up in my search results were recipes for sticky buns and sticky ribs which made me hungry.
So, does anyone have any solutions? I was thinking of trying to spray a light coat of WD40 on the molding around the door. Do you think that would work?

the wd40 will probably be a good short term help, but it could get messy if you have to spray it in a spot that gets touched (near the knob area).
When I was a kid, my dad would periodically sand and repaint the edges of a couple of our doors that always stuck. I don't know if this is what you are "supposed" to do, but it did work.
I don't think WD40 will work, and you'll probably have a big mess on your hands.
I'd sand it down & repaint.

we have the same problem (only on the kid's bedroom door, of course!) and our solution is going to be waiting until summer to sand and repaint.
until then, we only open the door during naps/overnight in a real emergency.

Yes, this is the exact issue. The problme is that the back of the door is sticking to the 1 cm of overlap with the molding (if that makes sense). It's not that the door is too tight in the frame. Thanks for the suggestion of the soap. That may work. I asked the question because I felt like a light coating of something over the paint might help and the soap may be a better solution than WD40 because it will stick better.
