What would you buy for...

Your SIL you hardly know.

She's 36, a SAHM, her interests include attachment parenting and her 9 mo old son.

She does not:

-cook

-clean

-watch tv

-wear anything scented/ allow anything scented into her house

-leave her baby (so massages, manicures, etc. are out)

  • a cute collage frame for pictures of her baby?

  • a nice box of chocolates?
  • Nice engraved photo album to fill with pictures of baby.

  • I like the photo album idea, or generally something along the lines of keepsakes in regards to the baby.  Red Envelope has so many great gifts (although maybe they are more for the baby than her?  But if she is that obsessed, maybe she wouldn't notice).

If you know shere she typically stores her digital photos, you could do a gift certificate to Shutterfly, Snapfish, etc?

  • A magazine subscription.

    A life.

     Agreed.

Seriously though, I'd agree with others and say a magazine subscription or photo book

Also, she is milk and gluten free.  So, chocolate for the most part is out.  Maybe I'll order her fancy expensive milk free chocolate.

This was also my suggestion to my H but since they're spending a fair amount of $$ on me I decided against wrapping up a piece of paper that says "put down the baby, step away for an hour, and get your life back crazy woman".

  • A locket could be cute, too. (For a picture of the baby.)

  • What about a gift certificate for somewhere around them that does "Mommy & Me" type classes? At least then she'd get out of the house with the baby, maybe talk to other people...

  • If she APs, I am guessing she wears her baby? What kind of carriers does she have? Perhaps a GC for a Maya Wrap or Ring Sling; a Didymos (sp?) wrap; or a Sakura Blooms sling? Something along those lines... Those are all wraps that I wish I had but are pricey.

I remember in the past you mentioned that she never puts the baby down, so perhaps you don't want to encourage more baby wearing.

You can get her a book by Dr. Sears?

Perhaps some cute clothes she can nurse in? (I am assuming she still BF)

A nice tote bag or large bag she can use as a diaper bag? Now that Adrian is older I don't take as much when we go out, so Eddie got me a nice bag for X-Mas.

These are all great ideas.  I also love the idea of getting her a giftcard to a mommy and me class.

These are all really good ideas- she has a bunch of slings- a whole wall of them, she always wears him so you're def on the right track.

Diaper bag is out though because she doesn't take him out much due to her delayed vax schedule.

She doesn't believe in reading parenting/ development books or magazines because then she feels like she'd have expectations about how her baby should be instead of enjoying how he is.

Where would one find cute nursing clothes?

Gap Maternity, Motherhood, and Duo by JCP were my favorites.
