Constipation in older kids?
Lucy is really constipated. My guess is holding it at school possibly and diet change since DH has been cooking since baby came (ie very little veggies and lots of carbs, lot white carbs). Nurs suggested baby-lax suppository and higher fiber diet, juice, etc. the diet is easy enough. Has anyone used baby-lax on an older kid? I just don't really see that going over well. How long did it take to work? I feel so bad for her... And she really loosened up another tooth by carrying her backpack with her teeth so she doesn't want to eat anything. Hoping to get some spinach and some prune juice in her. Other ideas that don't involve chewing?

Re: Constipation in older kids?
What about adding mirilax to juice/water. I personally haven't used it on DD, but know my sister has when her kids get constipated.
Hope she feels better soon!
I had to use Pedi-lax on M awhile ago. It worked within 15 minutes. Great for instant reflief. We kinda had to hold him down though to do it. Not pleasant, but it did work.
I'm not a big believer in giving juice to kids, but I've started giving extra pulp orange juice with breakfast. I also found fiber gummies that I give occasionally if I know he hasn't gotten enough fiber.
Do you think she'd do a smoothie right now? If you put berries and omit the banana that may help.
I've heard black licorice helps, but there is no way I could get M to eat that.
Smoothies would probably work great. Psyllium seed husk is a great natural fiber you can add to smoothies (just dump in and it's a little gritty, but works great though a straw). Plus you can work in some blueberries, prune juice, apple juice and other highly fiberous fruits and get things moving. Maybe try it a couple times in one day and see what happens.
I think I'd try that before a laxative unless L is super uncomfortable.
