Newborns and higher altitudes?
I remember a discussion about this a while back, but what is the pedi recommendation about taking newborns up to the mountains?
I read a study that said it is not a good idea until 3 months for various reasons, but I assume they were studying babies born at sea level versus here in Denver.
I am just wondering if we would be able to go to a mini-reunion being planned for next July in Steamboat Springs. Baby #2 will be about 6 weeks old.
Re: Newborns and higher altitudes?
My ped wasn't concerned. I lived in Denver, commuted to Evergreen (about 8-9,000 ft above msl) throughout my whole pregnancy and took DS#1 and DS#2 on vacations with family to the mountains (Estes and over to Vail) when both were about 3-10 weeks old. No problem for us and as I said, our ped wasn't at all concerned.
Are you united with the CCOKCs?
