NSOR: Gah! I hate doing interviews

I'm the office manager/histo technician for a medical practice with 1 doctor. I interviewed 2 people today and BOTH of them mentioned that the doctor is "really hot." Really, people?! I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped both times in shock. I get that he's attractive and whatnot, but that is definitely not something you use as an answer about why you want to join our practice. Our specialty is pretty rare, so it's nearly impossible to find anyone with current experience, on paper both of these women looked promising but now we're back to reviewing resumes. Ugh. I hate this whole process!

Re: NSOR: Gah! I hate doing interviews

  • WHAT??? What the heck is wrong with people? How is that ever appropriate?
  • Holy cow! People get crazier and crazier every day.

  • Seriously? This makes me depressed. I have my Master's degree, a ton of professional experience and the highest level of certification that I can have in my field. I interview well and consider myself to be pretty smart. And I can't find a new job. Yet, these idiots call themselves professionals when they are making inappropriate comments on someone's looks?? WTF...

I understand your frustration! Our specialty is Mohs surgery (skin cancer) and it is not a huge field, so experience is very limited when we hire people. I would like to think that if you were interviewing for a position that you knew you weren't highly qualified for that you would do everything you can to present yourself as a professional. My boss IS attractive, young & has a good, outgoing personality but, it's definitely inappropriate to mention that in an interview. I'm still in shock that anyone would use 'the boss is hot' as a reason to be interested in a position. shocked. lol Good luck with your job search dmarie!
