Thanks, girls :)

For all the thoughts/prayers/vibes/texts/emails/etc - Mark and I both really appreciate the support.

Saturday was, quite possibly, the longest day of my life. We were up at 4 am to go to the airport, landed in Denver about 9:30 am local time and went straight to the hospital. (For the record, Denver's a hot mess when it snows. I was seriously unimpressed.) Two of Mark's uncles had flown out too, so we all spent a few hours in the room before taking him off anything. The doctors give you a rundown of what to expect before it happens and everyone started tearing up so I sort of lost it. Mark decided he didn't want me in the room with him because he didn't want me to see it, so I stayed in the waiting area with his brother, who was freaking out pretty badly, while they unhooked Dad.

It took less than five minutes. He was ready to go. We spent a little more time at the hospital and then all went out to dinner. We were staying with Mark's grandma's best friend, who is 91 and hilarious. We spent the next day watching football with her (she adores Tim Tebow) and getting her ready for us to go - groceries, bills, pill sorting and the like.

We got Mark's Mom on the same flight with us Monday. We ran to our house after we landed, grabbed more clean clothes and the kitties and came up to his parents' house. We're going to stay here until the funeral is over.

We made arrangements yesterday, services will be Sun/Mon. Mark and his brother went back to work today, I'm working from home/ILs. After I finish work, I'm going to take her to do flowers and set up the repast. MIL is doing okay - she says she feels like this is the easy part after the last 3 weeks - but she doesn't want to make and decisions so Mark and I have been doing most of them.

It's amazing how strong this family is. I can't believe how lucky I am that I married into them. And the outpouring of support from family/friends/his former students has been enormous. It really feels like the whole world is helping prop us up.

Thank you for all the nestie love. You girls rock.
