Moms - Need Gift Idea for a 1 yo
My friend's kid is turning one and her bday party is Sunday. Need a good gift idea for her. Budget is up to $30 or so. It is for a girl. Thanks.
Re: Moms - Need Gift Idea for a 1 yo
IMO, 1 year olds are hard to buy for. Mostly, they like toilet paper tubes, ya know?
From sprout's first birthday he's favorite present has been a teddy bear. He cuddles that thing every time he goes to sleep. So, I ditto cheeky's suggestion in that regard.
Melissa & Doug make some puzzles that are appropriate for 1 year olds. I mean, mostly a one-year old would bang the pieces on the board, but that's fun & the toy can grow with them.
OH, I forgot about M&D puzzles. My neices/nephews loved them.
1yo is tough but you can get something that would be good in the 1-2year range. Both of mine loved playfood and these are my fave brands for how they hold up and in terms of how much my kids play with them.
Shape sorting cupcakes
Counting cookies
Rainbow color cones
Not a mom - but when my goddaughter turned 1 I got her 4 Dr. Seuss books. I bought her more for Christmas too. But any children's books would be good. I'm willing to bet parents get pretty sick of reading the same 10-15 books all the time.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.

Grrr, the party is Sunday. We just got the invite b/c they sent it to the wrong address first.... But, this may work for Christmas! Thanks!
M&D stuff is always good. At one, this ball popper was fun (he still plays with it occasionally, actually). You can probably find it at Target.
Whatever you choose, just try to include a gift receipt. Kids have so much crap these days that it can be hard to avoid duplicates. Also, ask if she needs clothes. At one, the baby shower gifts have run out and she might need 18 mo clothes more than toys. Plus, shopping for baby girl clothes is FUN.
DS LOVED the ball popper PP mentioned. M&D puzzles are always a hit too.
We always love new books, especially series ones we can build on (when DH and I get tired of the same one over and over). My favorites are the "If you give..." series and the Llama, Llama books. Also, I remember DS really loving the Eric Carle books--especially Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Very Busy Spider, and Very Lonely Firefly (that one lights up at the end!).
