Finally ready for my formal event this Sat!

I had a rough time picking a dress because the event is to eat at a very fancy restaurant and then afterwards, walk over to the Christmas in the Park magical setups in the city.  The invite clearly indicates that this is a formal event.  I couldn't imagine dressing up and then trying to stay warm for the park afterwards.  Since I am not comfortable into long gowns or dresses that are overly fancy, I came up with  my own strategy.

I am going to wear a short dress, bring a sweater jacket in case it is cold inside the restaurant and then when dinner is over, go put on my warm leggings and flat shoes since no one is going to see my dress under my warm trench coat.   I am also going to wear the same dress at NYE but with a leather jacket and boots to change things up.

Here is the dress I picked (below response since everytime I tried to post into the message body, the messages get covered up).  I figure it will put me in the middle category of the various ranges of formal. The dress actually comes to just the top of my knees unlike the tall model.
