I actually just saw that one when I glanced at target...like the seat but that pattern would take some getting used to - which I know shouldn't matter! We plan to go to BRU tomorrow to try a few out- my DH has a truck and we are tyring to determine if it will be posisble to keep Blake forward facing behind the passenger seat and put kennedy rear facing in the middle...have you ever seen that work?? I have a feelign the seats are too wide for that but he would lvoe to not have a rear facing seat behind him so he isn't stitng so close to the steering wheel!
I just deep cleaned my Marathon to prep it to consign it in the Spring! My boys have outgrown it.
I bought it in 2006 and I know there's an expiration limit on them, so it's up to you to decide for yourself. Its black/charcoal. Pm me if you're interested.
thanks to jennied
If you bought it in 2006, it is probably expired or close to. You have to go by the manufactured date, which is located on a white sticker under the cover (upper right or left hand side, I can't remember). It is only good for 6 years from that date.
OP: I have 2 Britax seats, and I tried to install them next to each other with one forward facing, and one rear-facing. It worked, because they puzzle well, but my LATCH is off center, so it made it look kind of crooked.
ETA: I didn't try to install with the seat belt, which probably would have worked better.
I was also going to say that I might be interested in buying your Marathon cover, if your seat is expired. I need an extra boyish or gender neutral cover.
Just let me know.
I was thinking they may "puzzle" as you mentioned and I think the latch in the truck is actually in the middle but need to check. I think we may go to BRU tomorrow and try some out.
Related question- is it safer to put them behind each seat or to put the rear facing one in the middle and the forward facing behind one of the seats? Wondering if I could make it work in my car for side by side as I have a roomy backseat...
If it works, I have read that it is safer to put the forward facing child in the middle, because the rear-facing child is already 5x safer than the forward facing child. That being said, I have my DD forward facing on my passenger side, and my DS rear-facing on the drivers side, because when I had them together they were constantly bothering each other.
Here is a link I just found:
http://www.thecarseatlady.com/car_seats/rear-facing_seats_7.html
Its under "What if two or more people ride in my backseat".
I should try it out again, and see how it goes.
Thanks for that link! I would have never given thought to putting Blake in the middle and Kennedy on the outside. is there a big difference in using behind driver seat or behind passenger seat as the outside seat?
Supposedly, the drivers side is safer than the passenger side but only slightly. Some say that it in accident, you are more likely to protect your side of the car, but obviously you can't predict where you will be hit in an accident. I am unloading and loading Ry more than Addie, so I put Ry on the drivers side, because it is just easier for me.
Thanks so much for all your help! I have K on the driver side in the car for that same reason with loading and unloading - easier for her on that side. I will see how the side by side works out-
