Mary- thoughts on the Pujols trade
We were just talking about it at work. Its great for those of us in Cincy- but wow 250-260M for 10 years.... that is a trade.
Re: Mary- thoughts on the Pujols trade
I'm unhappy about it because all along he said it wasn't about the money, it was about being on a competitive team and winning championships. Um, hello, we just won a championship because our management does everything in their power to keep the team competitive every year.
Paying a 42-43 year old (in year 9 and 10 of his new contract) $25mil+ a year is not going to allow a team to stay competitive long term.
So, I'm sad, but not that sad. The Cards will be competitive every year, management will use the money they saved on Pujols to attract someone else, and life will move on. Just like it did after Ozzie, and McGwire.
I also hope he enjoys homeschooling his disabled child in LA because the schools there SUCK for that (whereas St. Louis County has an entire separate special school district that he utilizes now). He's doing the wrong thing for his kid too.
Stand up for something you believe in.

agreed, agreed, agreed. Goodbye and good riddance. He's not worth that kind of money now, let alone when he's freaking 45 years old. Don't pretend like you love STL and want to retire here and then sell out for the money.
We don't need Pujols. Some of our much lower-paid players came through way bigger in the playoffs than he did. Hello David Freese!
