picture people - view and share CD ?

Has anyone used the view and share CD from Picture People to order holiday cards?  If so, how did they turn out?  The website says it is a low-res CD so I am unsure of the quality, but the other CD options are so expensive.  If you didn't buy the CD, did you just buy 1 sheet of photos and scan one into your computer to make a card?

DH has this terrible idea that he wants us in matching turtlenecks and Christmas sweaters for a JCPenney-like photo card.  He thinks it will be funny and people will love it.  I think it's going to get us an entry into Awkward Family Photos.  I'm sure the picture will be hilarious, but I know that some people won't get that it's a joke.  His argument is that (hopefully) this will be the last year that our Christmas cards don't involve babies, so he thinks we should take advantage and do a funny photo.

So if you can't tell, I'm trying not to spend a ton of money on a photo shoot that will look like this:

  • I have no idea about their cds, but if you do the pictures, you must look off camera just like that.  Just adds to the awesomeness.

  • the cd is crazy expensive...def not worth it.  they sell per sheet (i think $18)  i have bought pics and scanned them to make cards many times.

  • I am also not helpful.  But that picture would be a win for all recipients.
  • We have done this before i think it works depending on your personality.
  • Love the idea -- what if you just went to Walmart Portrait Studio and had it done Stick out tongue Do they have them around here?

Not judging anyone who uses the Walmart studios for their photos... I just figured it would be cheap.  Hehe.

I was going to suggest Sears, along these lines. Picture People is crazy expensive and I swore I'd never go back there after bad experiences.

And I'm not convinced they'll have the marble-y background required for this shot.

I voted Sears or JCPenney, but again, I told DH if he really wanted this picture, he would need to schedule it.  I assumed he wouldn't follow through - I know what they say about people who assume!  It will be okay if they don't have the marble background.  I'm sure we will find other just-as-bad options.  I will probably end up sitting in a gift box or something.

I get coupons for JCPortraits via email and when I get one, would be happy to forward it to you if you like. Though that goes against the whole "if DH wants it, he has to do it" (I do that too). Just send me a PM with your email address if you are interested.

  • There are always sears and jc penney portrait coupons in the parents/parenting magazines.
  • That's funny!  That's a Christmas picture card I would keep lol

  • I'm not familiar with JC Penney of Sears portraits, but right now the deal at Picture People (coupon on their website) is $18 for a package (a variety of sizes).  You could scan one of the bigger ones in to make your card so that the resolution won't matter as much.  They have a grey or brown marbled background.  I have taken all of my daughter's pictures there and have had great experiences every time.
  • So it turns out we didn't end up going to Picture People.  DH got stuck at work so he cancelled and suggested we take our own photo once we get our tree up and decorated this weekend.  I cannot be happier.  The idea of us posing ridiculously in a storefront of the Exton mall while co-workers and students could be walking past was horrifying.  So now, we can look like idiots in the privacy of our own home.  Pheww!
