NSOR - Christmas gifts for G's family

I actually get to spend Christmas with G!!  I'm super-de-duper excited!!  I want to get a little something for his family, but I'm not sure what.  Both of his parents have passed, so it's 2 sisters (both married), and 3 kids (1 boy, 2 girls).  What small token-type gifts should I get?  They need to be easily portable too, since I'll probably be buying them in Houston then flying up to MI with them.

I know both sisters love to read, but I feel like I need to get something for the "couple" or I have to get 2 gifts.  I'll probably get something small for each of the kiddos too.  Any ideas?

  • Gift cards I feel like are always a good way to go..either to fav restaurants for the couples or stores for the kids...

  • Do they have Half Price Books up there?  If so, HPB GCs are always AWESOME!

I was thinking about that and maybe finding an etsy seller that does custom bookmarks.  But then do I need to get something for their DHs?

Hmmm, do they golf?  Maybe a tee time?  Or cigars, if they smoke them.

I don't know Sad.  I barely know his sisters, and I REALLY don't know their DHs that well.  Whenever I fly up there, I see them for dinner once or twice, but that's it.  G told me not to get the DHs anything, but I just don't feel like that's right, you know?

  • Oh, yeah. I totally understand.

When you went up there to eat with them, was there a specific restaurant they like to go to on a regular basis?  Maybe a GC there? Or I wonder if they have a favorite magazine they like to read, maybe get them a year subscription?

It is hard if you don't know what they like to do.

Usually we cook for them at G's, or one of his sister's cooks.

What about Omaha steaks?  I see some strip steakd for about $50.  that could cover the sisters and DHs, then I could just get a little something for the kiddos?  That's an appropriate gift for a girl from Texas right? LOL

  • Wine! Buy them a nice bottle they wouldn't normally spend the $$ on themselves. That way it could be a "couples" gift.

As far as kids, how old are they? What do they like?

6 (girl) - she likes horses, music, and princess stuff.  I thought about My Little Pony, but they just aren't as cute as they used to be!

2.5 (boy) - Thomas the Train and Cars.  I saw some Cars slippers for kids a few weeks back, so maybe that?

    7 months (girl)
