In-home Daycare & Christmas

This is our first Christmas with an in-home daycare. It's fairly small (1 new baby, 1 one yr old, and 3 toddlers). Do you get gifts for the children in the daycare? Make treats? I was thinking about doing little gift bags for them with age appropriate stuff in it... maybe spending about $10 each. What do you do??

Re: In-home Daycare & Christmas

  • We do nothing for the kids and just gifts for the DCP and her mom and daughter who help PT.  For Valentine's and Halloween we do gift bags for the kids, but that's the only time.  And bring treats on b-day.
  • E gets a gift for her BFF at daycare/her bff gets her a gift usually around $10 and Ian is getting his new 3m old daycare friend something also (we are friends with Ian's new friend's parents and would have gotten him a gift either way).

The other daycare kids are getting Candy cane snowmen I am making, last year I made Reindeer suckers.  The other parents usually do treats.

  • Last year I got a big decorated sugar cookie from Eileen's that said "Merry Christmas!  Love, Delaney".  I took it over during nap time, so they could have it for snack that day!  It was a big hit, and I plan to do the same this year!

  • Normally I wouldn't, but they went alllll out for Halloween stuff, so I'm worried that he will get Christmas gifts too if the parents were that over the top for Halloween. I'm thinking about making them all one of those fabric roll up crayon holders. It will be really cheap for me to make, but look expensive ;) ha!

    What is this? Link?

I do a little gift bag for Christmas each year. Some of the other parents do gift bags for other holidays, but my kid can't/doesn't eat candy so I don't really do those holidays. This year the gift bag includes, sheet of stickers, small box of crayons, small coloring book (that I made) and then I will take a fruit tray to daycare that day.

  • I don't.  I don't think any of the other parents do at our daycare, the kids just get gifts from our DCP and we give to her....this is our last Christmas with her as she's retiring in May....I never did do anything 'big' for her at the end of the summer like I wanted too because I knew they would be there on random days off and over breaks, so may do a little more for Christmas ad I don't think they will be there much after that.
  • My dcp arranges a gift exchange between the kids where they draw names.   Otherwise I wouldn't. I might bring treats one day, but that's it.
