Re: Stolen from ML:
You pay taxes regardless of whether you use the roads, the schools and the facilities in your community and fire protection works the same way.
They knew they owed the money, they chose not to pay it, and now they're realizing they made a mistake.
If they knew their house would catch on fire, they would have paid. However, the firefighters can't count on the money only when they're needed- they have salaries, training, vehicle maintenance and equipment needs regardless of the number of fires per year, so the fee is the only fair way to do it.
Stand up for something you believe in.
I agree with the article, if they responded to everyone who didn't pay the fee than no one would pay it. It takes a lot to run these departments and a fee of 75.00 is not that much if it means saving your home.
Our fire department and ambulance where we live in voluntary and they rely on donations, you bet your bottom dollar that we give something every year to them. We may never need them but incase we ever do I want to know they have the proper funding to help us.
I'm really confused by this article, because I know for a fact I read the exact same one a year ago, yet this was published today.
Either way, they should have paid the taxes.
Also, bully breeds getting killed in shelters for no reason got no responses either, so apparently Niners just don't comment in general anymore.
that's because this is the SECOND time this has happened in the same county in a year. You'd think after it happened the first time, anyone taking the risk of not paying would fork over their $75, but apparently not....
OMG! I was so sure there was no way that could happen that I just skimmed the article!
That's doubly stupid and without excuse then. Ridiculous. People are so entitled. I don't get it.
OR some of us are ... *gasp* ... working! :O
TBH, I rarely read posted links while at work. And it's nothing personal to anyone -- I don't usually read them on my own time, let alone work, and I even ignore the ones my husband sends me. *shrug*

Lol, you're the one who made a big deal a few weeks ago about people not posting. I don't care that you didn't respond, I was just stating an observation...
And you're the one who keeps basking in the glory of reminding me of that. Yes, it was a comment I made a few weeks ago -- but if people don't want to comment on something, that's their prerogative. And for one so quick to get on our cases for not responding, you certainly pick and choose when to post yourself.

Aww, when was that? Was that DD's thread about wanting to bawl your eyes out? If that's the case, I didn't open the thread at all because, no, I didn't want to bawl my eyes out.
I think $75 a year is ridiculously inexpensive to pay if it means the difference between saving your home or losing it. It would be a no-brainer for me to pay. Those people got what they deserved, IMO. Although if the firefighters stood there while the people walked into their burning house, I think they should have asked/insisted that they not go inside, since it would be really dangerous.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!

I...what? I've been basking in the glory of reminding you that you complained about us not posting? When else have I done that?
Ever since you posted that, I have made a concerted effort to post more, which is pretty pathetic, really, but I felt badly that I'd fallen out of graces with most of you, and wanted to make it better.
I'm sorry that (to use your own excuse) I started a new role at work and am too busy some days to even check the boards. Geez. I'll make sure to reply to every single post, even though nobody else does that, so that I don't come off as "picking and choosing" what I reply to. Would that be better?
Oh, will you chill out? SO not that serious.
YOU were the one generalizing about Niners not responding because no one cared to comment on your link yesterday. I was just following your lead.
And if you really want to know you also made mention of it a couple of weeks ago admist a Throwdown Thursday post.

Ah, gotcha. I was at work that day, so I don't think I read anything on the board.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
Lol, I fully agree that this is not that serious. If you must know, I made the comment to Neuner because ever since she and I had our fight, I've been looking for common ground wherever I can find it, cause I like Neuner and hate that we fought. You felt the need to jump on my comment like I was personally attacking you or something, and I guess I got defensive because I was like, wtf, where is this coming from?
But, I apologize to any and all Niners that found my comment offensive. I promise I don't care when or how you post. Seriously.
Nope, never meant to make it come off as an attack, just a response to your comment made.
