So now there's a "hairstylist day" on FB

Same lines as the "DJ day" status. My stylist is also my SIL. I love her to death but I am now resisting the urge to get my nest snark on. She is actually worth every penny, I don't begrudge her a dime as I sit here looking absolutely fabulous.

If you ask yourself why hairstylists "charge so much" for doing your hair ... They don't get paid vacation, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for outstanding performances nor for Christmas. They don't have insurance plans nor do they qualify for unemployment. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can bring happiness to others. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for a bad haircut/color. Next time you ask, remember that hairdressers are hairdressers because of the love of doing hair, but that love does NOT pay debts. Happy hairstylist's Day!! Re-post if you're a hairstylist or have good friends that are hairstylists.

Re: So now there's a "hairstylist day" on FB

  • What is all this "they sacrifice their family on special days" bullshits?  How many times have you known a DJ or hair stylist to give up Thanksgiving or Christmas with their families because people are....having weddings?  WTF?

You know who gives up time with family on special occasions?  Nurses, doctors, police officers, firefighters, production staff for sporting event broadcasts, prison guards.

    FFS.

  • Um, okay. I'm so grateful for their sacrifice...

also I'm pretty sure most hair salons are closed on Christmas and other holidays.

  • Oh good lord.  Every job could have a post like this.  Heck, my employee just got called a "sl@t" the other day, and my other girl a "b!tch", and I am regularly called every name in the book.  Where's my FB post?  Confused

  • Uh-huh.

I just found out that the guy who did my hair for my wedding (for less than $100 I think) now charges 400+.  I saw him a few weeks ago, and he had 6 weddings scheduled that weekend.  I'm thinking he can take a day off whenever he wants.

  • There are a lot of professions that I've often thought, it really sucks that these people get paid so little for the difficult and vital work they do and the benefit they provide to society.

Styling hair is not one of those professions.

Please.  Personally I do not want a society filled with unkempt hippie ragamuffins.  Won't someone think of the Biebers?

  • May I respectfully request my own day on FB:

If you ask yourself why public housing managers "charge so much" for auditing your housing authorities ... They don't get paid maternity leave, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for kicking tenants out of mansions nor for Christmas. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can bring fiscal solvency to others. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for public agency fraud. Next time you ask, remember that public housing managers are public housing managers because of the love of  Section 8, but that love does NOT pay student loans. Happy public housing manager's Day!! You're just jealous. Here, let's start a day for you:

If you ask yourself why librarians "charge so much" for putting your books away ... They don't get paid commission checks, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for cataloging microfiche nor for Christmas. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can bring scholarly articles to others. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for disorganized card catalogs. Next time you ask, remember that librarians are librarians because of the love of  reading, but that love does NOT pay for student loans. Happy librarian's Day!! Re-post if you're a librarian or have good friends that are librarians.

If you ask yourself why moving companies  "charge so much" for schlepping your shiit ... They don't get paid maternity leave, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for packing up houses filled with crap then listening to your scream on the phone about the pricing nor for Christmas. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can make customers happy. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for broken dishes. • My turn:

If you ask yourself why small law associates  "charge so much" for defending your negligent asss ... They don't get paid maternity leave, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for billing nearly the same as the people who make three times what they do nor for Christmas. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can make their bosses rich. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for missed deadlines. No.  However, the clients would probably be nicer and I'd make a helluva lot more money.

I manage customer service at a moving company.  We are one of those industries that people love to hate, and continue hating even after they've hired us.  I could tell stories for days about my customers that I deal with.

  • If you ask yourself why pimps and madams "charge so much" for arranging your illicit sexual encounters ... They don't get paid vacation, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for you receiving multiple orgasms nor for especially kinky requests. They don't have insurance plans nor do they qualify for unemployment. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can bring happiness to others. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for a bad blowjob. Oh, and, just to be a mommy-martyr...

If you ask yourself why stay at home moms DON'T  "charge so much" (or, really, anything at all, except for the occasional Starbucks latte) for taking care of kids and house and all the schitt that comes with it ... They don't get paid anything at all, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for dealing with schitty diapers or screaming toddlers or any of that other stuff nor for Christmas. They sacrifice their sanity on special days so that they can make family happy. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for pretty much anything. • My turn!:

If you ask yourself why phone sex operaters "charge so much" for making you c*m ... They don't get paid maternity leave, they don't get paid sick days, they don't get bonuses for faking orgasms while their live-in boyfriends cringe in the next room nor for Christmas. They sacrifice their family on special days so that they can make you feel a little less lonely. Illness or personal affairs are not excuses for Mistress Stella being unavailable to spank you like the naughty boy you are. Next time you ask, remember that phone sex girls are here to listen to you moan and grunt because of the love of making dirty boys happy, but that love does NOT pay for 2257 compliant solo girl content. Happy Phone Whore Day!! Re-post if you're a phone whore or have good friends that are phone whores.

Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
  • um, I'm a hairstylist & there is no need for harshness toward hairstylists, I think they mean "personal specal occasions" if we take ANY day off at ANY time whether it be holiday or personal, we don't get paid for it, & if a client doesn't show, we don't get paid, if we have a day with nothing on our books we don't get paid, it would be like going to work & not getting paid for it! Plus it's our responsibility to make sure the salon is clean & presentable which we don't get paid for either (unless ur an assistant) No one was saying anything bad about nurses, Drs or any other occupation...those people are the hardest working people around! (though being a hairstylist is hard work as well...been doing it for 20 yrs & have arthritis from the strain on my body from doing hair) This person was just saying to not forget about your hairstylist...sometimes we are forgotten & taken for granted! But the reason we DO hair is the smile we get when someone tells us that they love their hair & tells us we are the best...it makes it all worth it! So don't judge unless you have lived a week in someone elses shoes, please! Thank you & have a nice day! Smile
