Cleaning Dyson

For those who own.  I thought you weren't supposed to do this type of a deep down cleaning with the water.  Would you do this?

Re: Cleaning Dyson

  • I "just" pinned this like 30 minutes ago. I'm on the fence if I would do this or not. I am going to make an appointment with Sears to clean mine.
  • I would do it and plan to, but probably only the canister pieces, not the lower part of the machine.  I remember when I bought it, them telling me that it is safe to wash the canister in water, I'm not sure on the rest.

Can I ask how much that costs?

  • I honestly have no idea.
  • I saw a sign that the vacuum place on 156th and Center services Dyson. You could probably call and find out how much they charge to clean it. My MIL has used them and had a good experience.

I do not have a Dyson, but I would never do something like this, because it looks like she spent 45 minutes cleaning her freaking vacuum. Maybe I am a lazy jerk but I can think of a lot of things in this world that I need to do more than clean a cleaning machine. ;) I take stuff like this in for servicing.

Sears does a really good job, we had a 2 year contract and had it cleaned 1x per year, I haven't gone back since, but I would guess it's maybe $40??  Well worth it, they seriously clean the gunk and its brand new again.  But I'm going to give my own cleaning a shot first because I hate being without a vacuum for a week.

  • I've done everything this says BUT rinsing the inside of the vacuum itself. I usually take the canister off and all of the little holes are clogged with dust so I take a toothbrush and scrub it all off. I have washed the filter out before. I'm pretty positive the instructions that come with the dyson tell you to do that.
