Need Venue Help

OK ladies, I need your help.  I have been asked to chair the Crawfish boil for the Dallas A&M club this coming year.  This is one of our larger events to raise money which goes to fund scholarships for students.  The last few years there have been about 400 people, but 3-4 years ago there were around 800.  I'm hoping to get it back close to those numbers.

However, I'm having trouble thinking of a venue, and was hoping for some ideas.  During the good years the event was held at Firewater over off NW HWY & I35.   Great location! But they went out of business.  A new place has opened at that location this year so we are going to contact them again.  The last two years it has been held at Sherlocks on Park ln.  Ok place, but not the best.

The things we are really looking for:

Ease of access and parking
Indoor and outdoor option (even if the outdoor is fencing off part of the parking lot)
Fun location
Can hold 400-800 people

We looked at some places outside of bars & restaurants, but then our costs go up significantly b/c we have to rent tables/chairs/tents, bring in water/soda's, security, etc.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Re: Need Venue Help

  • A CW of mine hosts an event every year at Sambuca and it is fun and they have an outdoor patio.  The one downtown only holds 600 though.  And it only has valet.
  • House of Blues could be fun?

Parking might be a problem, though.

  • I saw this post and thought it was a joke (before I saw who posted it).

I haven't seen this title over here!

HA!  I almost posted it to TK, but then I figured you all have been through this and would be more help!  :)

Tiffany, that is a great idea.  I'll add it to our list to check out.

  • Can you give us the scoop on this DFW A&M club?  Is it open to "outsiders"?

Of course anyone is welcome!  Check out our website.  There is a monthly HH, weekly meetings for all different sorts of networking groups, and yearly events like Crawfish Boil, Muster, Coaches night, Golf tournament, etc.  All events are fundraisers and we award full scholarships to an area HS student going to A&M.  Last year we were able to award 6 scholarships!

Pick an event that you are interested in and come on out!  I have two friends, t-sip and red raider, that are at almost every HH.  As long as you are willing to have a good time and fund the cause, we welcome you!

Also consider the fact that we live within close proximity to other counties.  We get information from Tarrant County A&M, Dallas County A&M, and Dallas County A&M.  You should be able to sign up for free to get notices about upcoming events.
