I made a list last night of everything I wanted to bake for Christmas. I'm going to start this weekend and freeze some things.
What are your baking specialities for the holidays? If you don't bake, what is your favorite treat and who makes it?
(feel free to PIP!)
Re: Can we talk BAKING???
I make a killer rainbow cookie - I haven't made them in a couple of years, but this year I am!
I also want to make some pinwheel cookies like this
Oh wow, you have a whole list?! I usually only bake when the urge strikes me, but I am making cookies on Friday to send with my secret Santa gift.
I also plan on making a 7-Up cake for our office Christmas party. We do a breakfast every year so I thought this would be good. It's basically like a lighter lemon pound cake with lemon icing. I've never made it, but I have the recipe from my SIL so I'm going to give it a try.
I really liked doing the cake balls that I made last year, but my sisters informed me that with all of the cookie exchanges they will be going to from now until Christmas, that they will have PLENTY of treats for everyone! Which, I am fine with.
My oldest niece turns five on the 21st, so we are having a little birthday party for her on the 23rd (Friday) night when they get to my house. That little turd only ever eats the frosting off of the cake and the ice cream around it...so I'm getting her an ice cream cake! Hah! I outsmarted her...hopefully...you KNOW there will be the cake layer sitting there when she is done!

These are my H's all time favorite cookies.
And you just gave me a fantastic idea! We missed celebrating H's birthday because I was (and still sort of am) sick, but he's going out of town this weekend so I can make him cookies to surprise him! He'll be so happy when he gets home and sees those cookies. Thanks Mel!
I'm making:
Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies (w/ crazins rather then raisins basically)
Ginger Molasses Cookies
Caramel Brownies aka Crack Brownies
So we'll see what else but those are my staples.
My (very ambitious) tentative list is:
chocolate chip (with pudding in the mix)
which chocolate chip oatmeal cranberry
sugar (one of my faves)
pepermint brownie bites
no bakes
maybe peanut butter
I really want to try making gooey butter cookies this year too. My BFF and I are planning to bake next Saturday, so we will see how far we get.
I do gingerbread men every year without fail, and also fudge is an annual thing. I do a different flavor every year. Last year was Irish Cream (with Bailey's), this year I am doing an oreo cookies & cream fudge.
In addition I usually try and do 2 other types of cookies or muffins. THis year I'm doing classic sugar cookies, Nutter Butter Santas and even though they didn't turn out at ALL, oreo mint cream cookie balls. They taste ok but they look like schitt because my white chocolate didn't melt right so dipping them in the chocolate wasn't happening. Next time I'm doing it in the microwave.
Haha! Your welcome! I'm sure he'll appreciate them!
LOL! Love it!
