s/o Holiday Songs

I heard on the radio yesterday that there is some guy trying to organize a group to ban all things Rudolph because if the bullying associated with the song/movie/story, etc.

Thoughts?

I can totally see his point, however, Rudolph is a classic Christmas story.  This reminds me of the rewrite of Huck Finn controversy.  People need to relax.

  • if you want to get technical, it doesn't condone bullying.  It's a story about overcoming bullying.  I would argue that it's an inspiration to bullied kids and therefore should not be banned.

You're gonna take that kind of stance about a song, go after "pumped up kicks." Leave Rudolph alone.

I'm not saying everyone should protest "pumped up kicks," but it's certainly more relevant and and condoning of bullying/scary behavior than Rudolph.  So are like 75% of rap songs.  But you don't see anyone protesting those songs.  They choose freaking Rudolph?!  Give me a break.

Agreed. Not to start anything about "Pumped Up Kicks," but I didn't hear that song until the first time it was discussed here (then I had to go youtube it to see what the hell it is) and yeah, if you're going to go after something that condones bullying, I'd pick that song over Rudolph.

And y'know.....turn on the Cartoon Network or Disney Channel....I'm 100% sure I can find at least 24 hours worth of TV programming that should be off the air for bullying and adult situations before the people protesting Rudolph could name all of Santa's reindeer.
