Sawyer arrived very early on Saturday morning at 2:19 am. He was 8 lbs 3 oz and twenty inches long. It is absolutely amazing how much the love grows in a home with two children since one of my fears was loving both kids the same! Evelyn is doing great so far and wants to help. She comes over and gives him kisses and rubs his head when he cries, it is very sweet!
So onto the birth story. Friday night I was laying on the couch with Evelyn and felt this weird popping feeling, I figured it was just the way he moved. A couple of minutes later, my pant felt wet, so I went up to the bathroom and low and be hold my water had broke. I called my mom to see if she and dad could help with Evelyn and called Zack at work. Then called the hospital. This was at 6:25. Zack and I head over to the hospital, they check us in to triage room, did some monitoring and test and then admitted us in. At this point I was not really having any contractions. Around 9 pm the contractions had started to get stronger but I worked through them without any meds. My goal was to go med free like Evelyn. As the contraction increased I tried to take a warm shower but it did not help the pain and opted for an epideral. ?They finally got the epideral in at 12:45 just in time for the feeling pushing. Not really sure if it worked or not.
I actively pushed for 2 hours, and was completely wiped out. There was at one point I really wanted to give up my body was so exhausted since I had worked all day Friday and had not eating anything since 3 pm. My stubborn little boy eventually decided to make his arrival and was a very healthy little boy!
Compared to Evelyn, it was a very different labor and actually harder/longer labor than hers. I was only in labor 5 hours with Evie and pushed for a half hour.
Everyone at the hospital was great, the only thing that fustrated me ?was the fact we decided to formula feed with possible some breast feeding due to the lack of production I had with Evie and they continued to push more of the breast feeding and making me feel guilty for formula feeding. However, now that I am home, I am feeling better about the decision we have made.
?Good Luck and happy labor to my Due in December Buddies!?
