Fresh Meat (Newbie Intro!)
Hello ladies!
24 year old...separated since January of this year. Single mother (5 yr old son from previous relationship before XH). Have been dating a wonderful guy since September.
Now for the back story, I met XH July of 07, married December of 09. XH had many addictions including gambling, he spent October to December 10 in jail. He came home, we tried to make it work..and well some people just don't want to change. Not divorced because he believes since I left I need to pay for the divorce..however, there are debts when being married to a gambling addict, so its still in the works.
I was an avid poster on The Nest message boards on facebook, I miss the sense of community, and you ladies seem to be the community I'm needing at the moment.
Also where do I find a list of abbreviations that you ladies use? I wrote this post assuming that XH stands for ex husband..but correct me if I'm wrong!

There is a list of abbreviations under "nest board glossary" on the left side of your screen. Or just do a search. You are corrent XH is ex-husband. Another one that gets thrown out alot is STBXH which is soon to be ex husband. If you can't figure one out, just ask.

When I changed my status to engaged on facebook it invited me to an app called "wedding book" which I guess was "the knot" on facebook..it also had a message board. Shortly after I joined "weddingbook" (or the knot) they added messages boards for the nest (simply called "the nest") and then mommy hood ("the bump"). Not sure what happened to the boards...I tried to get on the nest message board a few days ago and it directed me here.

First, get to a lawyer ASAP. Just because he thinks you need to pay for the divorce doesn't mean that you do or that you shouldn't seek legal counsel. You each pay for your attorneys fees so it's not like you will have to pay for his. Get your own counsel and pay for it. His gambling debts may haunt you for the rest of your life if you don't protect yourself financially. Lawyer up, now.

The abbreviations are on the FAQs that pp's (previous posters) mentioned. Also, DB is a big one around here and stands for douchebag. OW is another one--that's the other woman who exes have cheated with and/or left posters for.
