Its been a week since my whole world has been flipped around and I wouldnt trade a minute of it!
I wanted to take a second to thank everyone who left comments on fb since i didnt have a chance to say thanks to everyone seperately.
What was supposed to be a scheduled induction last thursday afternoon turned into her being born thurs morning. I had been in a lot of pain due to early labor and one false alarm bc of the pain/contractions. My doc really wanted to wait as long as possible to do the induction and give her every chance to come on her own.We (dr & I) were both wanting me to have as close to a natural birth as possible. On weds night around midnight I wasnt able to sleep or sit but was afraid to be sent home from the hospital if we went. So after 3 agonziing hours we went. When I got admitted my back labor was in full swing and they gave me an epidural before checking me- I knew I was 95% effaced on tuesday and 1cm. When I got checked at 3:30am and I was at 3 cm and very comfortable due to the back labor. My doc wasnt supposed to be on until 8 am so I was trying to hold out for him, since his on call guy just wasnt cutting it. Needless to say the doc walked in at 7:45am and she was born at 8:23am. She had the cord wrapped around her neck once and due to the cord every time I would have a contraction her heart rate would decel. So they made me deliver on my side bc she seemed the most stable that way. She was fine and scored an 8 and a 9 on her APGARs.
I was having a lot of back and neck pain the day(s) after I delivered and we chalked it up to awkward pushing positions, back labor and getting the epidural. WRONG! i couldnt quite shake the pain or headaches and wasnt myself. I went to see a pain mgmt doc at the suggestion of my ob and found out I had a spinal headache from spinal fluid leaking at one of the epidural sites( I have 2). The cure for that was wait it out up to another 6 weeks, up the pain meds which i didnt want to do bc i am nursing or get a blood epidural using my own blood. I got the blood epidural on tuesday morning and i feel alive and like myself again finally!
Needless to say we are doing well. my husband has been amazing, as is my family and the baby has been awesome and nursing like a champ.
If i could remember how to post a picture I would!
Re: we are on the mend!
Glad to hear you're on the mend! Congrats!
I'm happy to hear that you were able to have your delivery as close to what you wanted as possible. That's horrible you got a spinal headache. I've heard about them and they sound terrible. So sorry you had to go through that. It's not a way to spend your first week with your newborn
That's wonderful news that you're feeling better. Enjoy that little beauty!! Congrats again.
