It went something like this:
Me: My
: baby
: he's locked himself in the bathroom!
: He could drown in the toilet. YOU HAVE TO COME SAVE HIM.
: He won't open the door and I can't break in.
Fireman: Is he injured? How old is he? Where are you located?
Me: He's just a baby! He's only 1!
Fireman: We will do everything we can! Where are you located?
Me: Oh ***, never mind. He just opened the door.
Fireman: Good. You should put a baby lock on that.
Me: I did that. I can't even open it but he can.
Fireman: Oh. Uh... hold on (muffled) Frank, frank! Didn't your kid lock himself in the bathroom once? How did you stop it from happening again? Blah blah blahdy dah. (normal voice) Frank says you should turn the lock around so you can't lock it from the inside.
Me: Brilliant. Thank you. Hopefully I won't be calling you again any time soon.
Fireman: I wouldn't count on it...
Awkward! DS has locked himself in the bathroom 3 times in the last week. First, I left the door open. I closed it and thought the problem was solved. Not so much. He can open door knobs (hence lock in #2). So I got baby proof door knob cover. I can't even do it but he can (so lock in #3 which lead to this phone call). Just a friendly warning to all parents to turn your locks around...
Re: I just called the fire department...
OMG! Poor mama! That is awesome the guy was so cool though! This is one of my biggest fears, our doors all have the longer handles so dd figured this out long ago. We put painters tape over the locks so she can't mess with them. Not sure how long that will work! Glad ds is safe!
Pretty sure WonderRed had a similar story, only add in a running bathtub and an apathetic maintenance worker.
Our bathroom doors don't quite latch all the way without picking the door up just a hair, so I'm crossing my fingers that we escape any lockouts! Glad T is ok (go get a drink - you earned it)!
No more baby siggie pics. Boo.
YEP!

Wow! At least the water wasn't on. That sounds awful!

:::Making mental note to change all knobs to ones without locks:::
When I was younger I was really good at picking those locks with bobby pins, but I would NOT want to test if that is still true while Coop was on the other side of that door!
I LOVE the part about consulting Frank - super awesome.
