Am I am bad sister?
My sister keep posting shots of the dear that she's shot on FB and all I want to do it post for her to stop killing such beautiful creatures.
I know they eat them etc. but I can't but wish she wouldn't do it!

UK, I know you're right...I wouldn't ever post it, that would start a huge problem in the family!
Maybe I could just hide her while the season is on (can I do that)...then just delete the emails she sends me.
I just don't get it, she knows I'm not big on hunting...I don't eat much meat at all so why do I want to see a dead animal?
My cousin's husband is a big hunter and posts shots of his kills (trophy shots of him standing next to a deer on the ground, or whatever). It bugs me too, but he is otherwise a great guy, and this is an important part of his life. I try to just scroll right past any pictures he posts this time of year.
You could block your sister, but I think she's probably figure it out and get hurt. You could ask her to maybe put you in a separate list and when she posts pictures of her hunts she can post it only to a list that doesn't include you. Or you could just try to ignore it and keep scrolling past those pictures.
I'm with Pineapples on this one. I detest trophy hunting, but if you're going to eat the meat, then...well...ok. I couldn't do it, but I don't have anything against it.
That said...I sure don't want to see photos of it!!! Hide the post, and keep hiding the ones of the dead animals.
I would just block her until the season is over. Where is she? Most seasons are wrapping up this weekend or the next anyway (according to my new hunting FWB
).
I'm not a huge fan of hunting, but like Pineapples said, there's an over population so they will starve. Also, around where I live deer are very dangerous. I have gone "hunting" with my car, as have many other people I know. Just last night I was out to dinner with a friend whose father flipped his car 2.5 times last Saturday night to avoid hitting a deer. He's lucky to be alive.
ETA: Trophy hunting in my area usually feeds the hungry in local towns. So even if you just want the trophy and are't going to eat it, butchers donate it to local churches and food kitchens and it doesn't go to waste.
See, now that's great. I'm all about that! I just really hate killing for the sake of killing, then leaving the rest to rot (if that makes sense).
Yeah, except my sexy new hunter friend told me that they don't accept donations anymore because they have too much meat. He's freezing his last kill and giving it to his parents for stew.

It is such a cultural thing. I grew up with my dad, cousins, uncles, friends hunting in the South and it is the norm to me. My husband and father are the most enviromental/wildlife conscious people I know and are hunters. They never shoot at an animal unless they know it is a clean shot. They never let any piece of the animal go to waste. We always eat or donate their kill. Honestly, I really don't know a lot of hunters who are purely trophy hunters.
Unless you are a vegetarian or a member of PETA, what is the difference between eating a turkey from a hunting trip and eating a turkey from the grocery store?
