baked brie

Do you bake it with crescent roles or puff pastry?  I have never made it before and I want to try it out this weekend.

Thoughts, recipes?

Re: baked brie

  • Both options are good. I posted this recipe in the Christmas Eve post yesterday:

I like wrapping gouda in crescent dough too. My Mom used to do that for Christmas for us every year.

  • Take the wheel of Brie and slice it in half horizontally, like a layer cake. Spread Apricot preserves/jam on each half then put the halves back together (with the jam in the middle). Wrap in puff pastry and bake for approximately 20 minutes at 400 degrees. I haven't made it yet but it sounds amazing and it's on my list of things to try in the near future.

My favorite way to eat Brie is smothered with honey and almonds on French bread.

  • I do a non-pastry version that is pretty simple but good. Wheel of brie, topped w/ a jar of mango chutney, topped w/ diced already cooked bacon, or almonds if something is wrong with you and you don't like bacon. Bake the whole thing in the oven. So good

  • I slice it all over and then wrap it in crescent roll dough. Bake and serve with cranberry sauce
