Re: AW/FFFC

  • I don't have a FFFc but I do have an AW.

DH is the hardest person to buy gifts for. If he likes something then he just goes and buys it because he can't stand to wait for anything. He told me he didn't need anything for Christmas this year but I want him to open up something besides the usual undershirts, socks, and underwear I get him every year.

I finally found a great gift and I'm so excited to go get it this weekend and to see the look on his face when he opens it. He is always complaining that he doesn't have enough storage for his tools. He doesn't have a huge collection of tools but his tool bag is tiny. I found a great deal at Sears for a really nice metal portable tool box. I hope he's surprised on Christmas.

ETA: AW: I also forgot to add that I think I have convinced DH that we need a cleaning person to come in possibly once to twice a month to do a deep cleaning. This week DH's company is doing inventory so it's been kind of hectic around our house and from the way our house looks right now I would be embarrassed if someone unexpectedly stopped by. I usually do light cleaning during the week, but weekends are our usual deep cleaning days. Honestly, I would rather pay someone to come in and clean so I can spend time with my family. I know that might be a FFFC but I only get so many hours a night with M before she goes to bed and I don't want to be worrying about keeping up the house.

  • I've dropped nearly 10 pounds since my gallbladder surgery in August. The only thing I really did was change my diet - I can't handle fatty foods, so I don't eat them as much. I wish I'd had the willpower to quit eating fatty foods before my surgery instead of my body forcing me to do it. Yeesh.

I'm done Christmas shopping - and this is the first year I feel like I got cool things for everyone on my list. I'm so stoked. I'm dreading wrapping gifts, though - not a fan of that.

JJ has done amazing at his new daycare [which is more like a preschool] - this was his first full week there. I'm so, so thrilled.

  • FFFC: I am wearing a velour outfit to work today. It is navy, so it is understated but still, it is basically the equivalent of sweat pants.  I am sooo comfy!

  • FFFC: DH still has a Craigslist obsession, and it's driving me nuts. Last night we had to drive to Yukon to pick up some POS desk. The kicker? The guy originally wanted $100, and not surprisingly he didn't get it. So he decided to post it on Craigslist for free. Not wanting to be a cheapass, H offered the guy $50 for it. UGH. I wouldn't have paid $25 for that craptastic piece of particle board.

I really didn't even want to give any money, the only reason I contributed anything was so I wouldn't be on the secretary's list of people who didn't contribute.

AW: I'm thisclose to being done with Christmas shopping! I still need to get G's big gift and a gun case for DH. Also, I think I *may* surprise DH this year (I never manage to surprise him, he always knows what I've gotten him)--he pointed out a hoodie in a catalog several months ago that he wanted so I ordered it and have had it since October. He won't be totally surprised since he did pick it out, but maybe he's forgotten about it Lol. AND I was able to get G a matching onesie--I think DH will love that. The Shutterfly photo albums I made for our sisters and parents came this week and I freaking love them. I cried looking at the pictures of G, I hope they love them too!

  • I love Tori Spelling. Like, LOVE HER so much.  Total crush.

As far as DW's confession above: At least you contributed.  Our office manager sent me an email asking if we should send an office wide email to ask for donations to contribute to a gift for the President and I laughed so hard I peed my pants a little bit. Um, NO.

  • FFFC: I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet. I haven't even really started thinking about what I'm going to get people. Well, I did find the perfect gift on Etsy for DH's grandma, but the lady isn't taking anymore holiday orders, boo! We also haven't even put up our Christmas tree. We've been meaning to since Thanksgiving, but we've been ridiculously busy.

  • FFFC: I get more than a little upset when I see people texting and driving. It is very unsafe.

Aw: We are going to Vegas for Christmas. I am so excited. I can't deal with family during most of the year, let alone holidays. We decided to just spend it together in a very fun place!

We give cash to go towards a christmas present and a birthday present for the owner of our company. They tell us to give $20 (for each occassion). And they keep a list of who doesn't give, which I think is pretty stupid since the owner of our company is rich and could buy whatever the heck he wants. But I guess they say "He gives everyone christmas bonuses even though he doesn't have to, so everyone should at least give $20 for his christmas present."

That sounds absolutely ridiculous. And the fact they keep track of who doesn't give?  Why don't they just go ahead and deduct from everyone's paycheck already?  That would tick me off.

Yes. I also think the bonus comparison is bunk, because I doubt bonuses are coming directly from the boss's pocket. At the very least they're usually written off as a business expense for tax advantages even if it's a sole proprietorship, right?

  • FFFC:  Speaking of christmas bonuses, I tend to get screwed out of bonuses the past couple of years.  Now that I no longer have a direct supervisor, and I report to TONS of people in my office, as well as offices in neighboring states, I am completely overlooked.  I think people either forget I even exist, or think that someone else has already taken care of it, so basically I get a big fat ZERO at the end of the year, while a few other personnel around the office who don't even work 40 hours a week and cheat on their time reports got fairly large Visa gift cards last year.  I worked on several pursuit teams and all together, brought in MILLIONS of dollars of new firm revenue in a single year, but my bonus is zero?  Obviously I am not good at complaining about something that is not my god-given right, so I am just as mad at myself as I am at the situation.

    I agree with you all!

Ostate--it's strange to me, too!  I don't get it either--these people make at least 2 times the salary I do, yet I'm expected to dish out cash for them??  One year we gave one boss a Bass Pro gift card but we normally just give them the cash.  Another thing that really chaps my a$$ about it is that boss #2 is new this year (started in August) and I would bet money that he doesn't even know my name or what I teach....
Kaylee--I'm pissed enough that the email said "There's no limit!" in regards to our contribution.  If I was TOLD how much to give I'd have to laugh in their face.

And as far as the bonuses go....where's mine and my coworker's bonuses??  Instead, we'll get a mass email that says something like "Hope you have a great break and a Merry Christmas.  Thank you for all you do!".  Sorry, but the same generic thank you every year doesn't really do it for me.

  • Wow, the most they do is ask us to sign a birthday or boss's day card; they never ask for money. The front office takes care of the gift somehow. They do ask for monetary donations for the custodians for a holiday bonus, and they absolutely deserve it.

FFFC: I am only now starting my holiday shopping today. I have a family thing a week from today. I also have not put up a tree, and don't really intend to this year, even though H was nice enough to buy me a really nice tree to have for a long time (we can't have fresh -- allergies). It's not that I'm not in the "Christmas spirit," just more that I've been so consumed with work that I can't get anything else done.

FFFC: I had an actual panic attack the other night during my concert. Not because of the concert, necessarily, but because of some personal issues coupled with all of the deadlines, the concert, and random work drama. I was literally on stage, having a panic attack while my jazz band was playing. I finally got calmed down enough for the concert band portion of the show, but man, it sucked. I haven't had one in years.

Exactly. I think anyone who drives and texts is an idiot, frankly.

FFFC: I am enjoying my Uggs so much that it's just foolishness. I work in a very chilly, low humidity area, and I wear them just about every day. If the husband and I hadn't put a $50 cap on Christmas presents to each other this year, I would have asked for another pair. I mean, what am I, twelve?

I don't want to buy them stuff just because I "have" to, I want to get them presents because it's something I know they'll like and be excited about. If I'm can't do that, then what's the point?

That's how I've felt, too! Especially with my dad. He's so hard to shop for and last year we found the PERFECT gift for him (one of those Nascar experiences where you drive the car, he's a huge nascar fan.) But this year I have no idea what to get him.

  • My mom took B home with her Thursday because he cried when she was leaving.  Even after I told her that I really didn't think he needed to.  She was supposed to keep him last night, so I didn't really want to be away from him Thursday too.  He cried for me Thursday for a couple hours that night...I feel bad, and so does my mom.  Which resulted in her not wanting to keep him Saturday and H and I already had plans.  I had to pay a sitter for 4 hours when if my mom would have just kept him Saturday like I asked, there wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.  H and I hadn't had a date night in almost 2 months, so it really pissed me off.  I was, however, glad he stayed the night at his own house.  At least we had a good time.  But ugh.
