He lulled me into a false sense of security

For the first two weeks or so Max never peed when I took his diaper off.  I was thanking my lucky stars for that.  Then this week happened...  Every time I tell you.  This last time was especially fun as it was a triple pee and a poop to finish the deal and also meant changing the PNP sheets since I was changing him on the PNP changing table and he peed all over his bed too.  I think I end up using 2-3 diapers every change and an outfit and changing pad.  I need to get better at this.

Re: He lulled me into a false sense of security

  • This is my fear with having a boy.  I keep repeating to DH when he talks about his fear of "not being any good at diaper changes" is to remember to keep it covered and keep it pointing down.  I asked him the other day who he thought would be the first of us to get peed (or pooped) on.  I also reminded him to try to keep his mouth closed, too, just in case.   I think I'm not helping my cause in getting DH to equally share diaper duty and am just scaring him even more!

  • It's easier said than done to keep it covered.  I try to, put he will kick the diaper or wipe off or he does it when I'm putting rash cream on...  And sice he got circ'ed yesterday I feel bad putting anything on it.  As far as pointing it own, so far it seems to do that on it's own so that's easy enough!

  • It is exactly when I let my guard down for a second and don't keep it covered that I get peed on.   Has happened 3 times now.  You would think I would have learned my lesson by now.

  • 3 boys and they still catch me on occasion!
  • Noah did this everytime I changed his diaper. (Finn never did). I got really good and had a stack of washcloths to toss over the area the minute air hit. I can't tell you how many diapers I wasted as well but I got very good at catching it.
