so...my fault. i threw my scarf in the laundry basket, knowing i was going to do the laundry the next day. i figured i'd just fish it out before i started the laundry the next day.....well, h was being helpful, and he decided to do the laundry and washed it *and* threw it in the dryer. it's wool, and cable knit...it doesn't say what kinda wool it is.....
i had an incident today that requires me to sanitize this scarf before i ever even look at it again....
would you take care of the scarf and dry clean it like it's supposed to be? or just wash/dry again? it's already shrunken and now a tighter knit......

Re: wwyd? shrunken scarf.
the night time cleaning crew switched my chair with my coworker. my coworker that deep-nose-picks and wets his pants. i didn't notice until i unloaded my stuff on it, put my scarf and jacket on the seat...then sat in it for a few minutes wiggling around (smooshing my scarf into the seat) wondering what was different..

Eww.
I vote hand wash and lay to dray at home. Any chance that while its wet you could try to stretch it a bit?
With that info I would machine wash on gentle cycle, and air dry. I wouldn't want to have my hands touching that while hand washing.

I second this. I have a couple sweaters H washed once upon a time, and since then I've just tossed them in with everything else to wash/dry. Hasn't changed them any since they've already gotten all shrinky, though it probably adds to the pilling (but I have a sweater shaver thing for that lol).
