I have been wanting to start quilting for years and spend time periodically looking through sewing machines on Craigslist since I really can't afford a new one. What are the main features of a machine I need to have to do some quilting? I am so confused by all this sewing machine vocabulary! TIA

I quilt ( straight line and free motion) on a 40 year old Kenmore. It's all metal and my repair guy has ordered me to treat it well and never give it up.
You should check with some small local repair shops. They usually have used machines and can tell you what's good.
