Re-intro & doggy day care

Hi ladies!  I occasionally posted here a couple years ago when DH & I bought our first home but I haven't been around since then.  Before posting a question, I just want to re-introduce myself to the board.  I'm in my late 20s, just celebrated my 4 year anniversary yesterday, have a beautiful fur baby but not any human children yet (we're waiting until I finish my graduate program).  I live in Falls Church and work in Arlington and love the northern VA area but miss the beach.  Hopefully you won't mind if I stick around this time and post more frequently. :)

We've been taking our puppy to doggy day care once or twice a week over the past year on the nights I have grad class.  I just found out they are re-locating their facility outside the beltway and I'm afraid driving out there and then back with the traffic in the morning is just not going to work for us.  Does anyone have any recs on a doggy day care in the Falls Church or Arlington areas?

  • Hi there - I don't really post much here but I saw the ? about dog day care

I don't know where you take your dog now, but we've taken our dogs to Dogtopia a few times and have been very happy - and it seems as though they have a few locations near you

  • I live near Bailey's XRoads and we LOVE Dogtopia. We've left him overnight for a few short trips and he's a great friendly dog but has anxiety about being boarded (no aggression, just makes himself sick). They take SUCH good care of him and move him to the senior room (more relaxed, couches, etc) and he has also been up front at the welcome desk when they think he needs some quiet time with humans. I really cannot say enough great things about them and I know you aren't boarding but their attentiveness is fantastic and I always know he's in good hands, even if it's just for a few hours!
  • Thanks for the suggestions.  It looks like the location closest to me is in Tyson's.  We live just over a mile outside of Arlington so that would be going in the opposite direction during rush hour but we'll definitely look into it for longer boarding stays :)
  • If you're willing to go to Alexandria (Jefferson Davis Hwy off of 395), I highly recommend You Dog's Best Friend.  They're great for boarding and day care, and they'll even let you watch them play if you're nervous.  They also are the only place in the area that I've found that offers bedroom boarding where someone sleeps with your pups- which is most like what ours gets at home- so that was important to us.

  • I live in Arlington (near EFC Metro) and we take our dog sometimes to Wag More Dogs which is near the Shirlington Dog Park. They offer half day and full day doggy day care, grooming, and boarding. Sophie has boarded with them and honestly, it's a fantastic place. They even have "dog cams" online so you check in on your pooch if you want.
  • Thank you all for the recs!
