Hair Help

So FSIL informed me last night she wants the bridesmaids hair up because her's will be down. If I wear my hair up it looks like a torpedo in the styles she likes.

These are the 3 she has in mind

And ironically this last one I wanted to do with my hair for my wedding but got told I had too much hair and it would look like a torpedo.

I'm seriously considering chopping my hair off in August just so I can wear it down.

All of my bridesmaids but one wore there hair down and I did too and it didn't look funny. She's worried about it looking funny if she wears her's down and we do too.

Thoughts?

Re: Hair Help

  • I was that bride, only opposite. I wore mine up so my bridesmaids had to wear their's down. Would she be ok if you did a french twist? I have a TON of hair and that always looks pretty on anyone.

I think she wants us all the same and she is thinking kind of messy but put together if that makes sense. Thankfully if I do end up having to do the up do that she wants she wants trials ran on her sister and I since we have so much hair.

I think if I keep my hair at its current length it will work better than how long it was when we got married and I was told no up do.

  • I let my bms just do theirs however looked best. This makes me glad. I have nothing else to contribute

  • I'm no expert on hair styles, but wouldn't the same updo look different on each person just because the differences in each person's hair? I'd make a good solid effort to look for some type of updo that won't look strange on you before you go the route of chopping it all off.

Either way, I'd try to convince her that you just want to do what will look best that way she knows/thinks that you have her interests at heart. Maybe she'll lighten up a bit.

  • It won't look funny with everyone's hair up, everone's hair down, or with everyone's hair completely different. Honestly, no one is even going to notice.  Actually, I take that back.  I think it looks weird and funny when the bridesmaids are matchy-matchy down to their hairstyles and shoes.

I hope she ends up letting you all do what you're comfortable with!  Especially because no one wants to look like a torpedo ;)

  • Thanks for your input ladies. I think once she gets us all together to go dress shopping she will have a little different out look on things. She wants everything so uniform but unfortunately I don't think its going to be that way. I'm just going to go with the flow and not complain too much :)
