doll house suggestions for 2.5 y.o.

I think peanut needs a big doll house but my family is forcing me to consider space.  whatevers....

anyway can you recommend a doll house that is not huge and folds up to hold all the parts?

fwiw nicole40 suggested the grow with me kitchen and that was a huge hit will all the nieces.

  • that's what i said niko. but these ba$tards/aka/killjoy family members are boring.  in all honesty i do have to be conscious of space as all big toys stay at my parents house.

  • That doesnt look like it will take up too much space. Looks like it folds up too. But Im sure nesties with girls will have better recs!

  • we have this one, and ava got it for her 2nd bday: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2301378

it's small. she still plays with it. but she's in love with the gigantic wooden one at my parents' house - my dad built it 100 years ago for me and my sister. seriously huge and i wouldn't want it in my house!

  • mom and sis thing this is more age appropriate

  • Get the first one, it's awesome and she'll use it for longer. The smaller/babyish one she'll be over in 5 seconds. Get the BIG one. :)

    so Ava still likes it?

maybe i should be practical and get that one and then do it up when she is a bit older next year?

     that wooden dollhouse sounds amazing.

  • she likes it and plays with it. but we never got much of the furniture because at the same time she received two different princess castles that are essentially dollhouses.

i think it's sort of small and am surprised she hasn't outright outgrown it. but i also think she has my husband's genes - cannot part with anything.

i don't know what to tell you. i learned to stop sharing my gift thoughts with family because the feedback was never what i wanted - lol! now you are in a funny position of choosing between what you want (i like!) and what they suggest instead (which is also fine, but small)

I think this is the one my SIL got A for Christmas. I'll find out in a few weeks I guess! I think it will be fine for now, but I agree, she may grow out of it quickly.

  • we have the "boring" one.  sue is 2 1/2 and still plays with it every day.  she mostly likes to use her other toys (she has dozens of little disney figurines etc) and plays with them in the house (as opposed to the ones that come with the set.)  It is on the small side, but we have a decent size house and I honestly dont want anything bigger.  It's big enough IMO.

She also has the little people house- that one is cool because it folds up small and has things in it (wash, phone, toilet, doorbell) that make noise.  She doesnt like this one as much but we occassionally take it places with us.

  • Ok ok she got the smaller one and trunk with Disney outfits, shoes and purse. I'll get her the big one when she turns 3. or a pony ;-)

  • We got our DD a little doll house and we wanted to get DS something similar. We saw a wonderful parking garage (3 levels) on aBaby. An elevator takes cars to any floor. There?s a heliport on the rooftop. It comes with 4 wooden cars, a car wash, gas station (with attendant), toll booth and a helicopter. DS loves it !
