Re: Clicky Poll: Grocery shopping

  • Crest! They have a smaller selection than some other stores, but it's a much more enjoyable experience than going to Homeland.

I do everything I can to avoid going to Walmart. Waiting for 30 minutes just to check out? No thanks.

  • We have a Crest pretty much across the street. But for some reason, we end up at Walmart for our weekly grocery shopping. I guess it's because there's always something non-grocery related that we need that they don't have at Crest. I like Crest so much better though.

  • We do the majority of our groceries at Crest. If we need something throughout the week or toiletries we go to Walmart, even though I despise going in there.
  • I just recently started going to Crest and I love it so much more than Walmart.  The only thing I hate is the fact that their bags do not have handles.  It takes a lot longer for me to get the groceries from the car into the house.  I can't carry as many as I could from Walmart.

Get the reusable shopping bags.  With their long handles, you can sling a bag over each shoulder plus carry one in each hand. Plus each bag holds much more stuff than plastic bags do.

  • I go to Aldi a lot.  I also like Sunflower.  And I agree about the cloth bags.  I LOVE my cloth grocery bags!  So much stuff fits in them!

  • YesYes to Aldi and Sunflower!
  • Mostly Homeland, sometimes Sunflower, especially when they are running a sale on something I really like. They also have a great cheese selection. Homeland is right around the corner from us and it's usually reasonably stocked.

  • If you're near Edmond and haven't been to The Meat House at Danforth and Santa Fe yet, go, like yesterday. It's awesome!

FWIW, we haven't bought anything at Walmart in 7 years. So far, so good, despite the fact that some of DH's coworkers are totally perplexed by how we've "managed" to do so :)

We don't go to Wal-Mart, either. We went last year because I needed gift bags and someone gave me a $10 gift card. Never again.

  • I buy most canned goods and dairy products at Aldi and do the rest of my shopping at Reasor's.
