Stocking Stuffers

If you stuff them for someone, or if you only unstuff them from Santa, what goes in them?  (I'm wondering if it's just junk that ends up getting thrown out with the wrapping paper or if it's practical stuff to use for a while)

I hate putting together stockings. HATE IT.

I'm more of a I don't want to throw away money with junk, I want to give and get practical stuff. Dh is not so much the same as me. My MIL always has awesome stockings for us, but she has to spend a ton of money on them all. I prefer to not spend lots

Re: Stocking Stuffers

  • I buy practical stuff that my husband will use like deodorant, cologne, shaving cream, razors, his favorite snacks, dvd's.

For the kids, it's usually video games, dvds, candy.

  • My mom use to get us several $5 gift cards to places to eat, like Subway, Taco Bell, McDonalds.  We always really liked that.  She also did lotto tickets, our favorite candies.  But almost always stuff that was used and appreciated.  Not really junk.

  • For us, it's usually just candy, with maybe a couple small (useful) items thrown in.  I get DH things like men's body wash, shaving cream, after shave lotion, etc.  I like to get things like Burt's Bees lip balm, hair products, hand lotion, gum, etc.
  • We always got a magazine, a small perfume (or cologne), a candy cane, an orange and then some small gift, like an ornament or something like that...

I love the idea of things like body wash, shaving cream, lotion, and all that really practical stuff Smile

This is exactly the kind of stuff I put in DH's stocking.  As a kid, I just used to get my smaller presents in my stocking, like Christmas ornaments, candy, gift cards to McDonalds, fuzzy socks, hair accessories.... kinda random stuff but all exciting and useful for a kid.

  • I don't stuff any yet... maybe next year I will do one for DD. When I was growing up the toe of the stocking was always filled with candy and the rest was useful things, chapsticks, socks, hair ties, nail polish, etc.
