I currently have an LG Rumor Touch - which isn't a smartphone, but has internet access and a slideout keyboard.
It would make my life much easier if I could get my corporate email on my phone, so Santa is going to upgrade my phone... as long as I can tell him which one I want.
I have Virgin, so my choices are:
LG Optimus Slider $200
LG Optimus V $130
HTC Wildfire S $150 (on sale)
Motorola Triumph $300
I'm thinking that the Motorola is the best one, but frankly I'm cheap and I just don't think I can ask for a $300 phone. I am abusive to my phone and I would cry if I broke one that expensive. But if it's really just that amazing that it is a must-have, let me know. It does tempt me because it's the largest screen at 4" while the others are 3.2.
Keeping a physical keyboard makes the Optimus Slider pretty tempting... but maybe it's easier to make the switch than I think it is.
Oh, I don't know. I don't even know what's important here. School me.

I have a Samsung now but DH and I have both used HTC's in the past and been very happy with them.
I don't find the onscreen keyboard to be an issue for me.
If you are rough on your phone, get an Otterbox cover. I've dropped mine tons of times with no issues whatsoever, including dropping it directly on it's face on tile. They are worth the $30-40.
