So DH and I finally discussed (instead of fighting, actually talked calmly) about evenly dividing up the chores so that neither of us feels like we are doing more than our fair share of the work around here.
I made a list of all the chores. Then I assigned each one a "value" based on how often each has to be done, how long it takes, and how much I hate it (sucky chore = more points). We split it up so that our points are pretty much equal and neither of us has to do the things we hate most--like I don't have to do dishes and he doesn't have to cook.
Then I made a chore list on the computer showing what we each will do, with columns, color codes, a fun font and of course color-coordinated clip art.
All of this of course is just a way to avoid starting actually doing the chores. It was fun though :-)
Re: I'm a nerd
Love it!
And I'm really glad you two had a good conversation.
LOL, you're right, I'm such a teacher. I used to do stuff like this before I even became a teacher so clearly I've found my calling!
He is doing great. He doesn't seem to mind being in daycare 3 days a week and he just keeps growing. At this rate he will outgrow his newborn clothes in a couple weeks! Of course, many babies are born too big for newborn size...but he was a little guy and had really far to go--at one point the newborn size was so big it was pretty much falling off him.
And not that anyone asked but here's a recent pic :-)
He is so CUTE!!!!
We also divide the chores like that but we do it on a day to day basis. I decide what needs to be done around the house and then I tell him to choose half of the chores from the list. It is strange that most men dont realize when stuff needs to be done around the house.
This is so true! That's one reason I wanted it written down, because a lot of the things I do, he doesn't even know that I do them or that they need doing in the first place.
And thanks, I think MiniBini is pretty darn cute too
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!
Ok, so we didn't ask but I totally love seeing IN baby photos. I'm definitely living vicariously through you guys!
Any plans next year for a baby elenetxu?
Only if we win the Christmas lottery.
Which of course you WILL. Duh.
My H is talking like that. When we win the Christmas lottery, etc.
MrsBini, that's great that you had so much fun figuring out chores! Perhaps I should try that...DH doesn't do much which doesn't bother me usually, but when he stays home watching Aurelia I still expect him to unload the dishes and things like that. It's like he thinks being with the baby is work enough. If I thought like that we'd be living in a pigstye! He did say yesterday though that he wanted to work on the house today because he feels like he hasn't been doing enough lately. So that's good.
Anyway, an organized division of chores sounds like a great idea!
