Ladies,
My DH is thinking of trying these Body Envy herbal diet pills. I am against diet pills and I want him to lose weight the right way. My FIL has been taking them for a little while now and has lost 20 lbs so far. I looked online and cannot find really any side effects or bad reviews. I found that you need to drink a gallon of water a day, all herbal, there is no caffeine in the pills, and the changes it makes to your metabolism are permanent changes for the good. I can't really find a reason why he shouldn't at least try them, but pills of any kind make me a little nervous. He has been changing the way he eats and eating less of everything he eats. Hopefully, we will be adding in exercise when his schedule calms down a little more after Summer.
Have you heard of these? Have any of you tried these pills? If, so any complications? Did they work? Any information would be helpful expecially from someone with expierience taking them. TIA
Re: Body Envy Supplement Capsules Q's
I have no experience with the drug, but diet pills are never a good idea. In my opinion, of course.
The #1 ingredient is bitter orange which is a stimulant commonly used to replace ephedra. It will raise your heart rate/bp just like caffeine will, if not more so.
Also, drinking a gallon of water a day will give you some pretty good effects on its own, without drugs. Especially if he didn't consume a lot of water before.
If he is already eating better, why not incorporate a 30 minute walk into the day instead of taking pills? It may not seem like much, but if he is currently doing no physical activity it can make a tremendous difference pretty quickly.
ETA: There is also no such thing as a permanent change in metabolism. You have to keep up your physical health to do so or continue to take artificial stimulants.
I agree with Tiffany 100%. There are herbal equivalents to both caffeine and ephedra so just because it says "safe," "herbal," etc. doesn't mean there aren't side effects.
To lose weight "for good," you must make permanent changes in your lifestyle, exercise, and eating habits. Once your FIL or DH stop taking the pills, the weight will come back if those changes aren't made so the focus should be on lifestyle changes, not the supposed quick fix a pill full of stimulants will provide.
With All the Trimmings
Just do it!
I feel the same way and I got really upset when he mentioned them. Then, I couldn't find a really good excuse for him not to take them. You gave me the answer I was looking for with the bitter orange. I just called him to tell him. The things I mentioned about the drugs, I did not necessarily believe, they were just what I found out about the pills online. There was not much information at all. Of course, companies will always put wonderful information about their products to sell. I absolutely have no expierience with diet pills or even a diet, so I have really no knowledge about any of those two things.
He does drink a ton of water. He is a tall and broad shouldered man, so he consumes a lot of everything. LOL He consumes like 5 glasses of water just after he gets home from work and thats all he drinks all day long. He is very hot natured and his office does not stay cool enough for him, so during the Summer he drinks even more. Now, me on the other hand, it would affect in very bad ways.
He is doing a lifestyle change rather than a diet and was hoping those pills would help things along. He really just needs to lose about 30 lbs total. He justs sees his dad losing the weight so quickly and he wants faster results. He has lost 15 lbs before just off of changing his diet. He kind of went back to some of his old ways of eating and some of the weight went back on. We tried the walking thing. He only gets to spend maybe an hour of time with Brayden after he gets home from work during the week before he goes to bed and then we go to bed. We can't take him with us because it is dinner, bath, and bed during that hour. Now, he does get exercise with Brayden all over the house running and playing from the minute he walks in the door, so that is kind of his workout.
Thanks for your help! I am hoping that we are deciding against them now.
Thank you ladies for all the advice and information!
I talked with the hubby last night and he gave the pills back to his dad and will not be taking them. He told his dad what I told him and it doesn't look like he is going to stop taking them. I am so glad DH will not be taking them, but still not happy about his dad continuing to take them.
