Ladies I have a small question

H will be home for a visit sometime in Janurary. (he is not military anymore). I will be picking him up at the airport and was wondering if a sign that said welcome home, lets get a beer would be a poor choice or not?

Just a tad backstory my husband likes trying new beer and having one when he can for dinner. You know some people like wine with dinner, he likes a beer. Anyway where they are you can not purchase acholol with out a permit and the permits are $$$.  He has been dying to have one.

I plan taking him to dinner at a brewery and think it would be funny.

Opinons?

  • If you will just be waiting outside of security then i would probably bring him his favorite beer instead.

That is a thought lol, but would it still be considered open container lol.  H will want to get in the car! lol

Hummmmm.... thinking about it I just might lol

Well this obviously isn't legal, but I would just bring a coffee mug or something for him to pour it in.  Or he could drink it while waiting for his bag.  If he likes beer that much and it's been so long he could probably chug it in that time.

Yeah it's pretty dumb to bring booze to the airport, he can prob get a drink on the plane...

Really?  I'm not saying have him get hammered.  But if he loves beer that much that she wants to put it on a sign, then yeah I don't see a problem surprising him with his favorite beer.  I don't see how that's such a BFD.

If he loves beer that much, buy him a permit to buy beer where ever he is. My husband loves sex. Maybe the next time I pick him up at an airport I should wear lingere and as soon as we get to the car give him s BJ. FFS.

  •  Having a sign like that just seems a little weird or tacky.  You should just take him to lunch or dinner after you pick him up and get him a beer.  Another 30 minutes isn't going to kill him.

  • Do not bring a beer to the airport.  Getting ticketed for violating the open container law would be a terrible way to welcome your H back home.  I also think the sign is tacky, but that's your call to make.

  • I'd leave the nice dinner a surprise.

I concur with the recommendation to not break the law. I don't care how much a person loves alcohol, they don't need to pregame before going out to dinner with the spouse they haven't seen in however long.

  • I wouldn't bring him a beer, but I see nothing wrong with the sign.

I totally agree. Just do a regular welcome home sign if you want to. Leave the beer out of it and leave the nice dinner a surprise.

  • Maybe just a welcome home sign. I would just have a can of beer in the car.  Before you guys drive off he can chug it (that is what my DH would do).

  • how about making a pit stop at a bar in the airport? Back home they just added a restaurant outside security.

Otherwise my personal opinion, wait until you get to the brewery/dinner.

  • I would wait for the beer since open container citations are taken pretty seriously in many parts of MO. (You moved back home, right?)

  • I don't think saying "let's get a beer" would necessarily be a poor choice. It's not my personal taste or my hubby's (My husband typically only like's signs that say welcome home DH and nothing else really). It's really more about what you think and what he would think.

I wouldn't bring a beer to the airport. If I were in his shoes, I would think I'd rather sit down and enjoy it instead of finish it quickly.

Having said all that, you know your husband best.  Think about what he'd like best.

  • LOL There's that. Any beer worth drinking shouldn't be chugged.

That is what H says lol.  I will just wait till we get to the brewery.  I will think about the sign. Not even sure now if I want to do a sign, thinking about having to acutally lug it in, and holding it. (because of shoulder)

The sign doesn't have to be huge or heavy. If you're really that worried about dealing with it though, you can always do without and just tell him what you have planned. I'm sure that he will appreciate it either way.

  • If I were in your shoes I'd make a sign and not mention beer, then I'd surprise dh with a trip to the brewery on the way home. Seems like that would be more of a surprise and wouldn't violate any open container laws.
