H's Holiday party sounds so lame this year!
The first year we were here they did a "briefing" in the middle of the party, which is like a presentation about work - complete with power point. Sucked.
Last year they tried to make up for it a little - someone else planned and we went on a riverboat dinner thing. It was pretty fun, but I did get a little bored and did the macarena with this guy no one likes. I'm forever remembered for that, but it was way more fun than the year before.
This year they have a new chief and he planned it and I'm not going. H is going to stop by for maybe an hour. It's at the gym at work, pot luck and no alcohol. Apparently there will be a santa for the kids. Umm...that's not a party!! (...and it was going to be at an outdoor pavilion until someone finally got him to switch it to indoors).
Lame!
At least my work party will be a drunken good time.

At the gym? Dear God, that makes mine sound down right rockin' (I hate office parties).
My favorite holiday faux paus (thus far)-- there's a door decorating contest. Fine. One of the offices down the hall from me decorated their door with a gun theme-- yes, santas with guns. How in the heck is that even vaguely appropriate?!
That sounds really lame. Our holiday party for the library should be pretty lame. There will be alochol for the first year ever, but I won't be able to participate. BOOO! The law school one should be slightly better since there will be families invited. We will go, but it will probably not be all that excellent. I just want my DH to come to meet some of my coworkers and thank them because they threw me a really nice shower and all got us some very nice gifts.
I am looking forward to DH's union holiday party though. It is a big fancy party at a hotel with a nice dinner and music/dancing till like 2 am. The only thing lame about it is that there will be a cash bar. Since it doesn't effect me this year I am not letting it get me down.

I'm used to really fun parties. Military parties are generally a good time and there are a lot of drinkers. Plus we usually go out afterwards. Here it's been less than thrilling.

The hospital does a post holiday party at a banquet hall and its typically open bar. I've never gone thought b/c I'm usually working and you can't bring your spouse. Maybe if my GFs go Ill go but Ill doubt it b/c I probably wont be able to eat anything there at that point.
H's holiday parties are amazing!! They do have an awards part where they talk about the business and their number but I find it fascinating (people pay how much for bread?!?). Last year it was at the Ravens stadium on the club level and B thinks they are going back there this year. I will likely be fresh out of surgery so who knows if I will even go.
