....mind if I pick your brain?

Where did you purchase?
What kind (brand/model)?
How much was it?
Likes or dislikes?
Anything you wish you would have considered prior to purchase?

We're in the market for a treadmill and I've seen a few reviews online that I find favorable but ultimately I want to buy locally in case there are any issues. I would love to keep this under $700 because this would only be used in the winter or outside of the gym. It would not be our only option, hence the cheaper price.

PS - remind me again that it's a bad idea to buy something like this off CL?? The price is enticing, but the idea of throwing $400 down the toilet because it craps out after a week is terrifying. I'm a CL junkie

My sister got a really nice Proform treadmill last year for Christmas and it rocks. It is from Sports Authority and they were running great specials at the time and if you sign up for their e-mails you can get a 20% off coupon and then right now you can get a $50gc for spending over $250. Pretty much she saved over $300 on an awesome treadmill.

I got a NordicTrack from Sears. It's decent, but definitely not gym quality.

I have a Nortic Trak from Sears. i like it, but do not love it for running. I think we spent about $500, so there are definitely more quality ones out there. I think Craigslist would be ok to purchase from, obviously with caution, but I am sure you could get a good deal.

My sister bought a 'gold's gym' model from Walmart a few years back, she really liked it, I want to say it was under $400.

I think if you get from CL, you need to see if they still have a service contract on the model and find out how often it was used.
