Re: How was your weekend?
Highs? Friday I spent a couple of hours at the Humane Society, cuddling kitties, visiting the dogs and small animals, and hanging out with a potbelly pig. Saturday I went back and adopted the kitty I'd fallen madly in love with. Meet Luna
Lows? DD fell in love with an 8-week old kitten at the Humane Society, but she wasn't the one we were there for and someone else was in the process of adopting her. When we got in the car to leave and it sunk in that the tiny kitten wasn't coming home with us, DD dissolved into heartbroken sobs. Even DH started to cry because DD was clearly so sad.
Do any fun holiday/winter activities? Nope
Read anything good? I started 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson and it's excellent so far. I'm anxious to come home from the vet later and get back into it.
Watch anything good? DH and I had a mini-date-night last night (another high) after DD went to bed and watched Friends while eating pizza. I
Friends.
Eat anything good? I made homemade hot cocoa topped with homemade whipped cream last night and it was friggin' amazing. We'll never drink powdered shiz again.
FFCs, vents, AWs, confessions? Vent: While I understand it, my cats are driving me nuts with the hissing and growling at the new kitty. I *know* they're doing what's in their nature and they'll get over it, I'm not punishing them, etc., but I want to fast-forward through the adjustment period and have them all happily co-habitating.
What are you looking forward to this week? I'm taking Luna to the vet this morning and I'm hoping we find that she simply has a cold, not an upper respiratory infection. I'm looking forward to it because I'll be happy to know what's going on, rather than worrying like I have the past two days. I may keep DD home from school tomorrow and take her to visit my Mom, which will be fun. And DD's holiday celebration at school is later this week, so we'll go watch a gaggle of 4-year olds singing holiday songs. I can't wait.
- Highs? I had lots of time to relax and read, lots of park time and saw lots of pretty Christmas lights.
- Lows? None
- Do any fun holiday/winter activities? Yes, took my dog and my Mom's dog to get their pics taken with Santa at the SPCA, went to Watkins Park's Festival of Lights and Symphony of Lights in Columbia.
- Read anything good? Finished up The Children of Henry VIII, read The Elegance of the Hedgehog cover to cover and started The Thirteenth Tale.
- Watch anything good? Limitless was pretty good.
- Eat anything good? Yummy pasta and bayou broccoli at Copeland's
- FFCs, vents, AWs, confessions? N/A
- What are you looking forward to this week? Closing on our house Friday!!!!!!!!!!!
Dani - our dog had bronchitis when we adopted her and she was fine with easy meds. I think they pick up all kinds of crap at the shelters. I'm sure she'll be fine! Congrats! Thanks!
The shelter was clear on how rampant Upper Respiratory Infections are in shelter cats, so I've been watching her closely. She's sneezing a lot, has nasal discharge, and just sounds congested and stuffy when she breathes. It may just be a cold, but I definitely want to get her checked in case she needs meds. Yesterday she seemed to feel worse - she hid a lot more, was less social, and just seemed lethargic. I'll feel better once I know how she's doing.
Highs? We had a successful Christmas party on Saturday night with about 30-40 people attending. Everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.
Lows? I drank too much tequila at said Christmas party and broke a wine glass. I think I was too focused on making the food and didn't actually eat much of it.
Do any fun holiday/winter activities? I had three holiday parties, so that was fun.
Read anything good? I'm currently reading the Memory Keeper's Daughter, which I"m enjoying.
Watch anything good? I watched ABC Family Christmas movies last night..."Holiday in Handcuffs," a classic! and the new "12 Dates of Christmas," which I liked!
Eat anything good? My work party on Friday had delicious bacon-wrapped scallops, plus prime rib and salmon. For my party, I made a ton of food - crab dip, cheeses, caprese skewers, meatballs, etc.
FFCs, vents, AWs, confessions? There are only 5 people in my department at work, and the two senior employees are out today. I can't imagine I'll get much done.
What are you looking forward to this week? My parents are coming to visit on Saturday, and I'm so excited to see them. (They live in Arizona.)
